Just got my f5s mounted at discount tire (wrapped in 285/75/16 ko2)

There are strips of adhesive wheel weights all over the inside of each wheel. They are visible from the front and look terrible to me. they are an eye sore that I can’t get over. I am not pleased, to the point I am not even enjoying my new wheels.

Is this the norm, something we are stuck dealing with? I haven’t seen any other complaints about it - forum search brought up nothing. I find it hard to believe others wouldn’t be annoyed by it.

Typically with low cost cast wheels and heavy tires, yes it'll run a lot of weights. Looks like they "center" balanced them which will result in more weight in one spot. Sometimes I've had to balance some wheels with not enough caliper clearance to run weights on the furthest point of the barrel behind the spokes.

Once you get some brake dust and grime in there you'll forget about it. I use a black sharpie on my Ducati's weights to compliment the black wheels. Barely notice them.

I had Discount Tire stop using sticky weights and use rim weights on the inside. The sticky weights would fly off.

Some decent installers (these days are few and far between) will spin the tire on the rim to find a"low spot" to use as little weight as possible.

Our shop didn't do the any m/t or a/t tires, mostly Porsche, Audi, BMW, stuff. Even on the higher end wheels and tires I'd find one here and there that would want too much weight to place neatly in the barrel. Most times I could break the bead and spin it 180 degrees on the rim and reduce the weight count.

That's a good approach. I must have a good Discount Tire in my town because they do that with a road force balance and do not use sticky weights.

Yes sir, it's becoming rarer these days finding shops to take the time to do the little things. Tires suck, we actually stopped offering the service in our shop. We're getting too old to muscle around these things. We are a German specialty shop so only on the 911's will we accommodate the client since the wheels cost too much to trust anyone else.

Mount and balance just doesn't pay enough

Maybe it’s a tire issue

This was several years ago but Discount Tire replaced 2 sets of KO2’s in 295/75r16 they couldn’t balance on SCS F5s - tech said multiple times it wasn’t the wheel but the tires

I think most wheel agree (see what I did there) that KO2s have a history of being hit or miss with balancing while there’s very few complaints about SCS wheel integrity even though it’s a cast wheel (and no I’m not talking about the one member who had hub clearance issues on a non compatible SCS wheel)

Before: 2007 LC thundercloud grey (stock AHC suspension)

After: gunmetal F5 - 285/75/16 ko2

Pinch weld mod was required.

Hitch had to be removed to fit 5th wheel/tire in spare location.

Side note: others with 285/75/16 ko2 on stock trucks, what PSI are you running? I’m at 35 currently.

Thinking about getting the gunmetal ones, but the site doesn't have the +10mm offset for those. Only for the bronze. I'd like mine to poke out a little since I have the port-installed fender flares on my 100.
