4Runner roof chop.....(was: Who wants to help me take my top off?)

It was painful, but I have duplicates of all but a couple and may have those as well. Just gotta look through some stuff upstairs.

This HAMOM has done more to fuel the fire of "I want to buy a welder" than anything ever has.

I can't thank Johnny and everyone else who came by to help out this weekend enough! There's still quite a bit of work to be done, but I'm ecstatic about what we were able to do. The internal cage is looking awesome and fits like a glove. The plans for adding the new rear wall/glass are coming together and, even though I know there's a lot of detail work to be done, I can tell it's going to turn out awesome! I can't wait to get back to work on it so that we can get even closer to it being ready for business!

Looks Awesome!

We choped the top of a friends 4runner back in the day and definately helped to clear trees better on tight trails or side hills. Its funny that when he started this build 15 years ago "Fort Knox" was the inspiration for a lot of the mods. I'm sure the same could be said for a lot of 2nd gen builds, it is an institution.

Do you have any pics of that project as it was going together?

Pretty cool! somehow "The A Team" theme song kept playing in my head while watching the videos.

Meant to respond to this a while back, but thanks! Feels good to know that some of what I've done on the 4Runner has influenced others.

-------------------

We'll be working on trying to get the cage finished up and hopefully start re-fitting the rear roof pillar behind the rear doors tomorrow, if anybody is interested and available to come help / watch / point & stare. I'll bring a cooler full of water and beer, and something to throw on the grill for lunch for all who attend. We'll be getting started around 10am and work until either we pass out from the heat, or we just get to a good stopping point. Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated! If you need to know the address, as before, just PM me or @GLTHFJ60.

Cage looked great man. Sorry I won't be there to help. Just got back home from the area :(

But I have to say by far, without a doubt, my favorite mod is the new lazy boy driver seat :)

It's custom!!!

Got the cage 85% finish welded and did some more prep on the donor d-pillar. If it weren't for the intermittent rain all afternoon Saturday the cage would be done already

For anybody looking for something to do this weekend, we'll be working on the 4Runner at Johnny's place tomorrow, starting around 10am! Plan is to put the rear pillar and back wall in and get it as close to done as we can.

I hope to stop by to/from Southpoint Mall. Gonna leave of my Wife/Daughter at the Mall and come over, if room. I have some LBJ bolts for AZN, as well.

Thanks for letting me crash the HAMOM to change my CV axles. Big thanks to @GLTHFJ60 , @weejub , @fortknox , And John!!! Hey John. Didn't know your name on here. Let me know if I miss heard how much the Diff oil was and owe you more money.
Good to meet you Chris! The gear lube was $12 but it's all good. You can make it up with a beer at Logan's Run ;)

Got the rear pillar tacked on, bed sides mocked up and passenger side cut out and shelf for the ARB compressor built, and the interior cage is DONE and ready for the seats to go back in. Didn't get a pic of the side panel, but I think @GLTHFJ60 might have.

Still got a ways to go, but I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and it's coming together awesome. Couldn't be happier!

@lumbee1 Darn. Sorry about that. Think the heat went to my brain and it didn't process. I can't make it to Logan's run this year but I can definitely buy you a beer at a monthly meet or the next time I see you. Just remind me.

The heat got to everyone. It was rough out there.

Passenger side was relatively easy. Driver side, not so much, because the C-Pillar is much more bent up from wheeling damage. Either way, it'll look good when done and I'm sure @Fort Knox will break it in with a few new bends in the near future :hillbilly:

Passenger interior bed panel, with integrated shelf for ARB compressor. On the outside this will be covered with a marine hatch of some kind so that it's watertight. Driver's side will get a matching panel, unsure about shelf at this point.

@GLTHFJ60 and @Fort Knox, you guys are doing some quality work. Love it! Do you need anymore help this coming weekend? I'm back in town and have an itch to get my learn on.
