Theres no doubt it took alot of time and effort to put it together. Im sure everyone is thankful for that. And yes, the media is uncontrollable.

IMO, it is summed up by a comment our CSC club president made to me as we were cleaning up. He told me of another "off-roader" (quad rider) who said while watching the club clean up: (in his sarcastic "dude" tone) "What a bunch of losers, picking up trash - I hope they're getting paid well for it!"

All the people in CSC I know don't mind being a ninja/behind the scenes/cleaner-upper and simply did it for the right reasons. BUT, when we have that rare jewel of a chance to help change the perception of off-roaders and show some positive offset against the waves of idiots who "off-road" and trash our deserts, we really, really need all the help we can get. 4-wheelers can be awesome - spread the word!

Land closure after land closure made it a prime news-worthy opportunity to help change the votes and minds of the people sitting in their living rooms watching the tube. After all, I am sure the perception of many is: "that only people who can access the desert (off-roaders) must be the ones responsible! Might as well cut them off from ruining our beautiful deserts. Lets stop those cretins with the next closure vote!"

BTW, I saw many different 4 wheeler groups represented there, not only CSC.

Maybe next year.

Oh yeah, we'll need to bring more catsup too. It didnt last too long with Bman cooking over 400 dogs.

WOW! SIMPLY WOW!

I am APALLED at the tone and attitude being shown here. Granted, both news reports neglected to mention “offroaders” as the likely majority of bodies at the cleanup, but for you to call out Tim as the one who has the power in this matter is completely asinine. Hell some of you people who are bitching about it weren’t even fxxxing there, you didn’t show up and pick up one scrap, you’ve got no fxxxing place to talk. Tim works his ass off for months ahead of time begging people to help out in any way they can. If 500 people had showed up to a CSC organized trail cleanup better God damn well bet that I’d have been pounding my fxxxing chest all over town. Tim deserves a pat on the back and big congratulations for accomplishing what he did. Not a smack in the face and spit in the eye for being proud of what he did. I dare any one of you to attempt it with similar results. What a fxxxing embarrassment we all have become. This club was NEVER about spotlight or recognition, Murf got it right. It was always supposed to be about doing the right thing because it’s right. I grilled 400 hotdogs this year, who among you helped with that endeavor? Who helped Melissa and I get the easy-up set up? Who helped me unpack the grill and make sure everything was good to go before heading down the road to the cleanup area? Who helped me haul coolers and boxes across the lot? Who among you can claim any participation in the CSC provided lunch? Brittan, Shannon, my wife and daughter… who else? Who helped me break down and load up all of the stuff at the end of the day? Not one of you fxxxers helped! Yet you sit there behind your keyboards and light your torches because the reporters didn’t get it right. And you sure to jump up and bitch that BMAN didn’t bring enough condiments. What a fxxxing joke this has all become. Next year maybe I’ll buy lunch out of my own God damned pocket and keep my fxxxing mouth shut when my name isn’t mentioned in the news reports. I don’t do any of this s*** for the glory, I do it because it’s the right thing to do. I had no intention of ever mentioning the lack of help I received this year, or last for that matter, but this attitude you are all bolstering is a bunch of pansy assed school yard BULL****.

Now this is not likely to sit well in the stomachs of many of you, but if it gets removed by a moderator because of “politics”, then you’d better fxxxing ban me from this board and remove me from the club roster too, cuz I’ll repost it a hundred times until I’m sure that every member has gotten a fair chance to read it.

 not only were Michael and I there and picked up a s***load of trash, we also donated $$$ to Tim this year and before

I simply think it would have been appropriate to mention that many 4x4 clubs were out there - in either the first or the second broadcast, particularly after it was pointed out to Tim (not by us) that the clean-up is not done to benefit hikers alone

my next year's donation goes to CSC instead - that is all :meh:

Hi everyone. My name is Danica and I am Tim's other half, I like to say his better half:) I am the other individual in the interview. I am the other one that you have been attaching for last few days. Maybe it is not my part to come on here and post but when you hurt the ones I love and tear down something that I stand so strongly beside, than I do have a right to say something.

The day of our fist interview we were in the rain and cold, just the two of us for an hour. We talked on camera for an hour. We answered multiple questions in regards to the cleanup. One question was asked, who comes out to clean up the trash? We went on and on about the different types of groups that come every year. Four wheelers, hikers, mountain bikers, dirt bikers, shooters, families and even boy scout troops! They were all mentioned! However, the following two weeks our interview spent countless hours on the editing room floor and our hour long interview was cut to 10 minutes, just like every interview on tv. We were happy with everything that was said in that hour and anything that could have been brought to 10 minutes would be and is still just fine with us.

The second interview was on the day of the clean up and it was not about WHO was cleaning up all the trash but just the fact that the trash WAS being picked up! We were asked questions about what we were seeing that day and our experiences. A few of the volunteers were asked questions and it turned out beautifully. At the end of it, he told us that if they had enough coverage and the channel allowed it there would be a follow up and twenty minutes before it aires, we got the e-mail last week. We didn't even see the origianl or follow up because we don't even have tv:p

I think so many people are loosing sight of what this is and what it means. It has never been about getting names of groups out there, our sponsors don't even asked to be mentioned and they donate thousands of dollars worth of items for you to possibly walk home with. They are just doing it because for one day out of the entire year, a group of ALL types of people come together to clean up trash in an area where we off road, hike, bike, shoot and just visit. THAT is what the Four Peaks Pick Up is about and its a shame that so many have lost sight of that and made it about them.

You do not know anything about Tim or myself. You do not know our family, our friends, anything about our jobs or what we like to do in our free time but yet you feel you know us well enough to pass judgement. Shame on you. For the few of you who really know Tim and I, thank you for your kind words and trying to make the situation right.

It is all of our clean up; however, Tim and I spend at least 4 months before the actual clean up putting it together, just the two of us. Calling sponsors to see if they want to donate items for a raffle for our volunteers, hounding the media just to give us a little coverage so that EVERYONE can be involved and just posting hours and hours every night to forums making sure that every question and concern is answered. After the clean up, another 4 months is spent sending out countless numbers of thank you cards, one which is headed to this group, finishing articles, posting pictures, speaking on boards and again, posting in forums for hours just to make sure every question and concern is addressed. All of this holding down full time work. This is our clean up because at the end of the day there are two people who have to answer to everything in regards to this event.

Murf: Thank you for being a silent ninja and working hard for our environment that is used and abused by so many from every type of group:-) You are truly appreciated by Tim and myself. Good call with the catsup!

DSRTRDR: Thank you and Michael for coming out and cleaning up trash. However, remember you did not donate to Tim over the last two years. You donated so you would have trash bags to clean with and water to drink. Next year, if you come out, keep your money and hand it to B-MAN for your won group and hopefully you will feel better about your choice and involvement at the end of the day.

BMAN: There is not enough words that can express our gratitude for what you as an individual do for this event every year and what you have done over the last day. Your wife even gives her birthday for the clean up!!!!!!! She is a keeper, you are a keeper!

Remember, most of you are parents and even grandparents, is this the message you want to send to each of your children and how you want them to see the world??????? No one is entitled to anything, we are all in it together. Every year we have had 500 volunteers come out to clean up this area. The one thing that no one has mentioned, it is a shame that we have to keep coming out to this area with 500 volunteers to haul tons of trash out year after year.

Danica,

I am terribly sorry that you would ever feel the need to defend yours or Tim's actions in this matter, either here or anywhere else on the internet or in the world.

What many of you don't understand, is that Tim does not make a penny off of this event. Every cent that is "donated" goes towards purchasing the items needed to make the event happen. Any money left over at the end of the day is then donated to charity. This year the extra monies will go to Tread Lightly. In years past Disabled Explorers and Karma Racers have benefited. None of this would happen without Tim and Danica pouring their heart and soul into this event. The fact that they must now defend themselves in this matter is absolutely disgusting. I read this thread with a HEAVY HEAVY heart.

What the hell? Some of these comments don't sound much like the CSC I know. Mind you, I don't know everyone in CSC and many people in CSC may not know who the hell I am but I wouldn't expect to see comments like this either way.

I could go into a long winded post expressing some of my own feelings on this, but much of what I'd say has already been said and even though I wouldn't have said it so blatently as Branden, I tend to agree and think it covered it nicely.

I can simply sum up with WOW....

*insert smiley shaking head back and forth here*

The gun is aimed in the wrong direction.
. Tim and Danica
You two rocked the clean-up.
Murf you said it right .
BMAN you are correct sir

Steady as she goes, lets just have another successful clean-up again and again. We know we are doing right.
Bickering is for other venues. Not CSC

As do I.
Perhaps my return was a mistake.
Spend enough time around people and you will be disappointed.

Cool, the #1 CSC'r! founding father and stuff :D

With all due respect, only prolly 3% of the CSC'rs even posted on this thread. Come on, hang around and find out that the CSC folk are all still good people. Dont worry, Shannon will pull through with some comic relief and Jackson will top him (again) and we will all move on.

Big picture and all....

I dont care who gets credit, whether there was enough relish, or anything else. Im just glad my boy had a few friends to play with(Bman's) and I got to teach him about the dirty pigs who throw out trash. He doesnt even think about littering, picks up trash at random places, and has learned in pre-school about taking care of our planet. And thats exactly what we did. Im sure Bman would of rather been pickin the bugs out of his goatee than standing there for hours flippin dogs. But he did it with his family for a bunch of people for a good cause. Who really cares who was mentioned on the news, we all know who was there pickin up trash. And for the people who werent there, or had nothing to do with it, shut your cock holster.

Lots of people taking stuff WAY too personal.:o Most of the posters here know the others well and I would think they would be better able to interpret the meaning of their posts. Remember this is the internet, with the differing writing styles, personalities, etc, it often easy to misinterpret the true meaning of the post. Going off half cocked, insulting or providing smart ass comments to poster's concerns only escalates what is most likely a misunderstanding.

I see a couple of posters, me included, with a disappointment/concern/criticism comment about how an opportunity to promote ORV doing good is missed. I obviously see this as a legit concern. A simple answer like; "We tried and it got cut" or something would have ended it, instead we get a smart ass answer. I don't see this as an attack on Tim's man hood or anything else, simply a criticism, a situation that maybe or may not be able to be improved on in the future.

Then a bunch of rants testifying about Tim's commitment, I don't see where this comes from, don't see where it was questioned? Believe it or not, many of the attendees are pretty successful, have run big projects and are well aware of the work needed to pull something like this off. Everyone that I have talked to is appreciative of his efforts. How some posters turned a simple concern into this I don't understand?

BMAN, I'm really sorry you "had" to work, but pretty sure you weren't the only one. IIRC the agreement was you were going to arrange, organize that part of the event. When I got the last dog, I asked if you needed help and you said something about, nope, I have it under control. If you needed/wanted help all you needed to do was ask.

To those who are quick to post their :o I agree, but likely for a different reason. I see this as a perfect example of how to screw up internet conversation and a lessen to make a better attempt at understanding what others are trying to say before going off.:o

I vote for a big CSC group hug at the next meet(clothing optional).

You must like being teased.

Nope, he's just attempting to create an opportunity for some man spooning, one of his favorite activities. :o:hillbilly:

Okay.
My faith in this group is restored.
Thank you.

Soooo, you saying you're good with the spooning thing? You and Shannon will have a gay ol' time. ;p

I said group hug, not a circle jerk Phil. And a.mus.ed, theres no way around it, people give me s*** no matter what I say or do. I just have a big mouth. You guys must be homophobes, ask Kevin and Rob about there spooning ritual last year in Moab, they'll tell ya theres nothing wrong with getting a little comfort and body warmth.
