It definitely feels like it has more pep. I was a little concerned when some people said they didn't like the feel of no all wheel drive but I can't tell any difference in handling.
Robbie Antonson had some very strong opinions about not doing it when I quizzed him in the course of our engine rebuild discussions. He said handling would be all wrong.

I'm hearing this more and more as we send PT kits out. We've never sold them under the assumption of fuel economy or improved handling, just the ability to drive with a broken front diff, axle, etc and solves driveline vibes but more and more are saying "I like the handling too"

I dunno. He got very excited about it. I’m not gonna argue with him. He’s the man. Besides, I think I want him to rebuild my engine.
His words: “What I really do not like about the part time kit, is you loose full time. The cruiser handles differently in part time, and one really can not travel as fast safely (IMHO). But I have a big heavy cruiser (35's, 6 inch lift, weighing about 6500 lbs).”

I see why people do the PT kit. If I lived in the SW region or did think of broken UJ's / disable issues when wheeling, then sure.
Here where rain & barely off-frozen asphalt is a norm, let alone us who drive into the passes or to ski area, AWD is a great benefit.
I'm really considering going AWD in the Tundra just for the ski areas, and a rear locker (not to be used in the snow, more for boat launches we 'improvise').
Retrieving the boat esp if you dumped it semi-ingloriously in @ a sandy riverbank can get challenging, even a certain upriver formal launch that's sand is tricky, heck right now it's flooded / 16' underwater like most of the river side of Hamilton, WA.
For those of us who are not even remotely as gifted as aquatech3, how much is a basic engine rebuild and when are folks thinking about doing it (i.e. what mileage)?
Im at 309k and its furthest thing way down on my list
A lot of opinions you seek lately. I don't think you can pin down an interval as they are so far apart it relies heavily on how it was treated in between.
How bad was it to start, how deep down rabbit hole you goin, while you in theres, are you gonna do any of the work, any upgrade parts or oversize pieces......
Yes it does have a very noticeable increase in power especially for as heavy as the truck is with 35" MTRs and stock gearing. MPG is about 10-11 which is slightly better than before on the stock motor. As stated by @NLXTACY I am waiting for the kit to be completed which I think is really close. I am in no hurry and am willing to wait for them to get it done right especially being as far into this build as I am I would hate to cheap out at this stage because I wasn't willing to wait.
