Did the US Armed Forces ever use 40-Series vehicles?
Apparently yes, at least during Operation Desert Storm, 1991.
If anyone has more pics/info, please upload...

These Cruisers seem to be 1983 FJ45 PickUps:

This was not a regular unit these guys were in. I am confident they appropriated the trucks with alternative sources.

I concur. It seems that they, somehow, have gotten these trucks from their Saudi Allies….

Another scene from "Desert Storm": Gen. Schwarzkopf, next to the King, inspecting the troops on a splendid Saudi FJ43...

Its not uncommon for the agency to stage or identify easily obtained wheels for egress or travel. IF support from air is not best or would further compromise the teams or if they want to further blend in.
The actual ways much like you would imagine, borrow and steal. I know the guys who go in earlier than others such as some specialized units who train indigenous and who setup for larger forces use local wheels all the time.
I don't know specifically that they target cruisers but I know they are favored amongst them nn

A friends son was in the rangers. Helicopters dropped them at a location and getting back was on them. He talked about grabbing BMW sedans and the team driving back with the night vision on and the lights off and going at a high rate of speed back to camp.

have you ever driven with NODs?

A friend of mine said they "borrowed" this truck.View attachment 3930412

It seems that when their own wheels did not suffice, they used what was available in the field (attached pic: Operation "Provide Comfort", Kurdistan, N.Iraq,1991).

PS. Nice pic you uploaded: seems to be taken during the Second Iraq/Gulf War (2003-2011).
Nice/solid FJ45 PUP too, any more pics please?...

I am not sure when he was there - he was a Gulf War vet when he was hired onto my fire dept just after I retired in 2014. So 2010-2011 would be about right. That is the only picture I have of them.

It makes sense, thank you Ted!
