I need some knowledge parted onto me about the angle/level of the combine engine gearbox placement in the chassis. I have total control over how level the engine sits in the chassis by moving the gearbox bracket higher or lower. If the chassis sits on each corner with 4 the same stands does not mean that is now the chassis actually sits as being level. The rear feels like it should sit higher than the front.

Does one use a 90deg measurement from the chassis cross member rail where the radiators bolts onto and have a equal distance top to bottom by using the fan blade on the engine. The radiators needs to be level as the front grill/head light panel apron sits level again the radiator.

There must be some point/part in the chassis which is used as set level to work from? anyone?

Are the engine mount deemed to be the level, thus packing either the rear or front of the chassis until level is achieved at the chassis mounts?

This is not precise, but from the FSM section on the frame, it would appear that there are two sections of the frame that are level to the ground: the portion between the rear cab mount and the rear spring's front mount, and the portion of the frame at the very back. Those two portions look like they should be parallel to one another.

Thanks, I will use a spirit level on the that section and adjust the stands to level the chassis. I will then place the engine & gearbox into position and use the spirit level on the engine fan blade so the engine sits at 90degs

Finished cleaning and painting the left & right knuckles over the weekend. Put new brass bushes in the spindles. Backing plates have been sand blasted, etch primed & painted as well. Calipers have new pistons & seals, also etched primed & painted and hubs cleaned and painted, ready to go.

Dug the SST knuckle tool out ready for the assembly on Saturday>

Also arrived this morning the new front knuckle nut, locking washer & claw washer kits, the first photo below shows the wear on the claw washer, against a new claw washer and the second photo is the flip side of the worn claw washer, so these front knuckles have had a rebuild at some time. The wear on the washers it fairly deep so it looks like the bearing face was spinning on the claw washer?

Also the old locking nuts looked like a coal chisel had been used to tighten them originally as they most likely did not have a 54mm knuckle socket.

Levelled chassis, so the engine will be level to the radiator so the gap to the fan blade is even when the radiator sits at 90 degs. The chassis levels at 3 positions, front.
