I'm collecting parts for my FJ62 project in the future and I'm thinking about changing the rear gate 4 Wheel Drive badge to the type used on older Land Cruisers.

What do you think about it? Do it, or stick to the original?

If you want resale / restore value then keep it original. If it's your personal project that you plan on keeping then do what suits you.

I think it'd be cool, especially if you like it. Your truck. I think Land Cruisers are great for tasteful mods and unlike muscle cars, really it doesn't seem to hurt value. Consider an emblem that goes in with 3m dual sided emblem tape and you can change back with ease. Check out @bhicks site. He makes lots of cool stuff. B3HD printing

I’ve gone back and fourth on this too.

If you are keeping you 60 all stock then leave it as such. If you are adding any of the following, lift, bumpers, non oem center console, custom door panels, a V8, etc etc, that at that point it matters much what you do.

I'm thinking of doing it as a salute to all of the earlier model Land Cruisers.

Two of my three kids want it when I get rid of it. For that reason, I can't ever see me selling it to anyone. In fact, I may have to get another one to keep the estate equitable between the two of them. Where I live, the Land Cruiser is a great vehicle to turn new drivers loose in. If they do something in it, good or not-so-good, I hear about it pretty quickly. For that reason, they all have a history with it.

I'm trying to keep it all stock, except for the radio, the rear gate 4 Wheel Drive badge, and I'd like to install a new set of dash instruments, too. The stock radio was gone twenty years ago, replaced by a single-DIN unit, which is likely gone early next year, to be replaced by a double-DIN unit with modern features.

Either of these two would be cool.

Sorry man... maybe I’m the only guy that thinks it would look janky, but I’m a purist. It’s your truck though. Do what you want.

I love that
1. Every model has one. (up to 80 series)
2. They are all iconic.
3. They are all different.

My fave is the 55!

...and I am guilty of putting a 40 badge on my 80.
