We just got these. When Gunnar pulled them out of the box to check them out, he realized that they don't sit in the channels the way that we would expect them to (or the way we've seen in pictures.) It looks as though the u-bolts are not wide enough. What say MUD about my U-Bolt flip kit? :hhmm:

GREAT use of shallow depth of field. ;-)

Take a topside pic and upload it. I have the same setup. Make sure the ubolts or the plates are orientated correctly. I actually had to seen one of the plates back . It was machined correctly and the ubolt didn't fit in the recessed groves. I"ll check my setup when I get home. but in the mean time, throw up some more pics.

Strong work...It's my new hobby...

sorry for the hijack...it's my new hobby (photography, that is...not hijacking) Hopefully my better half and I will see you guys soon, and your 'lesser half' is invited, too! (me, you and gunnar BS'd while they other folks winched that 40 out of the ditch on the Castle Rock run last summer) I thought I'd add that so no one's freaked out. ;-)

hijack OVER.

Spread 'em and install 'em! The narrow U-bolts make it a little more difficult but that seems to be maf's way of building them.

WTF?!? That doesn't look right.

I'll be following this thread as I have thought about the 4+ kit.

As I recall, they were not cheap. I am fine with that as long as they are a good product...
nope, not cheap at all. *sigh*

Did u make 'em work? Spreading them seems like it would get the bolt through the hole, but will it line up in the channel? And what about compromising the strength of the u-bolt?

Why can't ANYTHING work the way it's supposed to???????????? :bang:

Because our trucks (and apparently the accessories now) have personalities. And we love them for it! :D

y'all have no idea, i tried installing a front arb bull bar on my dads 80, and it was made too small for the frame, i had to push the frame open, and hammer the rails just to get it to fit. long day, but thank god of hi-lift jacks

Do a search for flip kit there was just recently a thread about it where I posted some install advice.

Hey Dirty Toadette and Dirty Toad, that isn't right as you suspect. I didn't have any trouble wiith mine, no spreading needed. Probably got the wrong u-bolts is my guess.

Dang looks like they messed that order up bad. Always hit or miss with them. I had them replace the plate because the all the unbolts worked on the other 3 plates.

I like that flip kit. I am way jealous!!! Too bad they sent you the wrong u-bolts. Next time you guys order from them do it as a will-call and I will pick it up for you , make sure they didn't fxxx up the order, and re- ship it to you via UPS or USPS for 1/2 the price they charge you for shipping.

we heart you. :D

we DON'T heart Man-a-fre :bang:

Measure the distance between the hole centers and then the distance between the center of the bolts where they make the 90 degree bend and not at the threaded end of the u-bolt. You will probably find those distances to be very close to the same. The bolts possibly are bent a bit more than they need to be and spreading them out at the threaded end makes it all fit just fine. Has worked for me.

Maybe that's the 40/55 kit.

WEll that would suck...

:frown:

Call 'em and ask for STeve (I think he's on this board...). I had to spread mine slightly to get the bolts in the holes, but everything else fit fine...
