Gunso, the next time you need to deal with a old rusty brake bleeder or a brake line with a flare nut that's seized just use a micro torch and heat the nut and tubing where it enters the fitting, or for bleeders heat the bleeder for about a minute, you can hit it with WD40 or a penetrating fluid hitting the tube where it enters the flare nut if you want to but just be patient and then use vice grips on the nut flats. Try turning it carefully and if the line turns with the nut stop apply oil and hit with heat again and bingo, I have done a ton of brakes and used to break off bleeders too until I started using a micro torch. I haven't broken a line or bleeder since. Works great in steering flare nuts or what have you, I just did my 30 year old brake lines On my bj42 today and they all came loose.

Thanks wrench. I have a micro torch. I'll give it a try on the other side. Then maybe I'll only have to buy 1 cylinder. There is so much rust in there I can't see how it functions at all. Maybe it doesn't.

It seemed like every time I replace one thing I break another. Hopefully I'll be done after your advice and one cylinder.

Yea, I know how you feel, I'm up to my neck with my own project, it's one thing after another on my restoration. Let me know how you make out with the torch trick.

oh and I forgot to mention you should always change brake parts in pairs to prevent brake pull, that goes for callipers and rear brake cylinders as well. Sorry... but maybe you will be able to save the line at least.

I put the old rear shocks in the front to save money. I think they are over 14" collapsed. I got offered some BDS socks for the front for free. 14" ers. I declined because my old shocks seem ok and I'd rather er on the side of long. For the rear I'm getting some 16" Monroe Gas for $27.99 each with 11" of travel.
