Hey Guys,
I have a 90 4Runner with the 3L
3VZE.
We just got our first days of real winter here in Revelstoke BC (minus 20 ' C )
I blew my alternator belt the other day and drove home to check it out.
I checked the Pulley to see if the Alt had ceased and it had no resistance.
I put in a new belt and it didnt move
I pulled the Alt out and brought it inside.

My question is this,
Will the Alternaotr spin fine untill under load an then cease untill not under load anymore?

I have the Alt out and in my house and apart from the back, but can't seam to undo the pulley bolt

Any suggestions on the best way to get the pulley bolt undone?

That's an odd one, not sure what's going on there.

It's kinda hard to get that pulley off, you need a special tool to hold the shaft still while you turn the nut off. The FSM shows a crude picture of it, I've seen the removal kits on eBay. Maybe if you put a chain wrench around the pulley to hold it, then hit the nut with an impact, it might come off.

thats exactly what i was thinking. I already went and picked up a set of front and rear bearings, but i dont think i can get tho the front bearing w/ out getting that pulley off
