do Not find seat removal possible even with tailgate UP.
WOULD find step by step instructions very helpful.

BTW: eagerly awaiting arrival of driver seat insert from Relax the Back. Will restore support and color choices allow good match to factory gray leather; $200 well spent IMHO

What do you mean even with tailgate up? Tailgate should be irrespective of the process to remove the 3rd row.

From memory, you get the set folded and to the rear where it will 'lock' into the closed position.
Then underneath the rear foot of the seat is a metal bar you pull to unlock the seat from the clasps in the floor.
Here's a video going into more detail on the 3rd row, but directly to the point where you'll want the process to remove.
