I changed things up at work and won't go in at all on Thursday anymore! That will allow us to leave Denver earlier in the day!

Finished welding up my slider mounts last night minus steps. Will clean it up and mount in place tomorrow.

Also getting the packing a bit organized.

What's the Denver area crowd planing as far as getting on the road?

Anyone have good camp spot locations out around red cone?

There's dispersed camping between Keystone and A-Basin, just off Loveland Pass. It's down low in a valley so would be out of the wind? But would also have more bugs.. anyway, if you get up there kinda late and don't want to deal with climbing a pass keep that in mind, and it's an excuse to go over Loveland Pass which is kinda cool. If you do go over the pass, after you pass the first ski area at the bottom on the other side look to the left for camp sites.

All packed up, hitting the road and departing VA with CruiserHead05 in the AM.

Anyone going to be staying in the Nashville area tomorrow night/leaving Wednesday AM that wants to caravan to ABQ?

You making the Nashville to Abq drive in one day? That's a loooong haul!

I'll say! That's 1200 miles. 4+ tanks of fuel plus a food stop, you're looking at 18 hours. Drive safe and stop when you need to, no need to push it. Ouray isn't going anywhere.

Good to hear that you are up and running again. That's nice work in just a weeks time!

I wasn't able to find any Abita Pecan Harvest beer. Picked up some Abita strawberry and am bringing Yeungling (courtesy of BamaBrock) as well. Hope those will do.

At a local mechanic that I trust to rotate and balance tires before I head to CO tomorrow.

Asked him to look over the truck and the only thing he came back with that I might want to do is flush the brake fluid. Says over time it can absorb water which can cause at altitude. It's original, so I see his point, but is this really necessary? I'm a little worried about messing something up last minute...

Caravan from ABQ

For those of you passing through Albuquerque Wed evening and departing Thursday morning, I've arranged for a meeting location and time if you want to caravan.

At the SE corner of the intersection of Hwy 528 and 550, there is a gas station with a Wendy's next to it. This is west of the Rio Grande river and the town of Bernalillo and at the far north end of Rio Rancho. It's a good place to gas up and has ample space for several trucks to park while waiting for the rest of the caravan to show up. The meeting time for this caravan is set for 10 AM. This will put us in Cuba about 11:30 or Bloomfield/Aztec about 1 for lunch and Ouray about 4 PM.

Right now I have the following folks planning to meet there:

Slimbuddha (Ron)
ntsaint (Andy)
bamabrock
Bloomer (John)
aaronrules

We will probably depart about 10:15. If you're close and want to try to reach someone on the radio, use CB Channel 13 or 146.460 on the Ham radio.

Ideas for after Ouray

For those of you not heading home right after Ouray with a day or two to kill, I would like to suggest a couple of really neat places to see. The first would be Mesa Verde National Park. It is near Cortez, CO (west of Durango). It has extensive Anasazi Indian ruins and some museums. The second suggestion would be Chaco Culture NHP. It is also Anasazi ruins but is a little smaller and further off the beaten path. You get to it from HWY 550 about 1/2 way between Bloomfield and Cuba, NM.

Feel free to PM me and we can exchange Cell numbers as well.

I've never had such a lack of power before in my life with this truck it's ridiculous. Now I know why everybody out west has to 4.88's

Just wait until you clear 10,000 ft and it really starts sucking wind...
Drive safe and enjoy, your drive will beautify the closer you get to Denver and then it gets really good the closer you get to Ouray.

See everyone SOON!

I'm at Pikes Peak right now. About to do the climb. I'm not even to 9,00 feet and my foot is through the floor! The only way to keep it moving. I feel bad, the DT Catback is so loud. And it's so peaceful...

Anybody out there has a SWR meter to bring along and help out those of us with newly installed CB radios?
Wanted to get that done before leaving but its not happening I can see!
