Is there a convenient place near our campsite that I can buy a fishing license in person? Or is it best to just buy online?

If you buy online in CO do they provide you with a temporary license in lieu of waiting on the mailout?

YIKES!!! Another thing on my no list of of things to get done! Going to the website now...

on another note...made a jumper and I think the fridge is running now...

One place in Ouray:
6489 OURAY APTEKA 611 MAIN ST. OURAY,CO 81427 (970)325-4388

I just called them they are open late, think I will just do it this way. Thanks for posting.

I will probably do the same. Maybe run by there either after setting up camp or on the way in.

Man I hate trying to figure what I should pack and not! It's really hard to not over pack.

LIST! Wants X Needs X HELL NO

Do we have the "campsite" for Sunday night too? I am trying to figure out what me and the boy are going to do after this weekend...Have to do at least Pikes Peak and Colorado Springs. Just wondering if we have to pack up sunday night or not. I think I am going to try to book something in town for this night either way. Somewhere that has s shower and laundry services! Oh...and cheap! Anybody done the Ouray KOA? Or any of the other KOA's around...Gunnison, Montrose? I am wondering if it's worth the drive to Gunnison to get a cabin with a shower...

You can camp wherever you would like Sunday, the area is first come fist served and we will be there first so I don't see a problem staying an extra night. Our area has a 14 day limit for disbursed camping.

EVERY ONE: The Ouray sheriff has lifted the ban for the county! The GMUG Natl Forest has lifted fire bans for our area! Please bring mucho firewood. One note, a concern about "invasive" fire wood species has been brought up several times in this thread. Please be aware that almost none of the firewood that you can purchase in Colorado is from Colorado. I'm talking about the stuff you get at grocery stores, gas stations and KOAs. Please do not hesitate to bring firewood across state lines if you plan on purchasing it at a retail outlet. Yes firewood from out of state can harbor invasive insects that we may not want here in Colorado so you might not want to bring stuff from that tree you just cut down. Also, please no construction wood or pallets.

Here are some good firewood guidelines.

See you guys in a couple of days!

Well the fridge powers up off of one plug. I get a temp reading, but I don't hear the compressor kick on. I tried with an inverter and the truck off too. Fridge works fine plugged into the wall right now. I thought maybe the truck/battery doesn't have enough juice the fridge kicked off to save the battery, but it is a less than week old Die Hard Group 31 battery!

I don't know that the Edgestars have a variable low voltage setting. I know that mine is set to fairly low BUT you have to keep in mind that any sort of regular extension cord will gobble up volts like you wouldn't believe. Same with ordinary connectors. I can feel those get hot when the fridge is going. I know that if my battery is not close to well charged and I have some extension cords on, the fridge may not run with engine off. (Well, more accurately, it will start and then shut off after only a couple of seconds.) When I measured things I found easily 1V drop over skinny extensions and that may be too much. So keep those short or use fat cables for them and you should be good to go.

Went ahead and booked a cabin WITH bathroom in Montrose/Black Canyon KOA for Sunday night. Only 45 minutes away so says Google. It'll be nice to get a shower and do a little laundry before heading over to Colorado Springs/Pikes Peak and then onto home.

With all the rain, we might be building rafts.

All packed up minus pillows. Gotta tie up a few loose ends then we are on the road tomorrow! Just drove the truck around for about 15 minutes to get as much charge on the Die Hard Group 31 as possible. I am a little nervous about running the fridge all night, it's set on 40 so hopefully it doesn't have to work so hard and the battery won't be dead in the morning!

Drove 12 hrs solo today from NWA to my buds house in Denver. Cought a couple freak crazy rain/lightning storms..

In the 60's tonight and NO humidity!! God I love it out here.. Not too much longer until it's permanent..

Camping tomorrow out by red cone/ Webster pass if anyone is interested. Other than that running by Slee tomorrow to grab a few things and finish up a couple small odds and ends on the cruiser..

Anyone have good camp spot locations out around red cone?

Jealous! I was sweating my balls off all day loading up today. Man Arkansas is too hot!

There are some nice spots just as the trail starts in the trees. Once you get above tree line it's likely to be very cold and windy so its not ideal for camping. There are some spots on the Montezuma side, but if you want to run Red Cone, you'll have to do it first because the trail is one way and you can't go up from Montezuma.

Remember, when the trail splits up the hill, stay to the right unless you're locked, you don't want to end up breaking something. ;)

All packed up, hitting the road and departing VA with CruiserHead05 in the AM.

Anyone going to be staying in the Nashville area tomorrow night/leaving Wednesday AM that wants to caravan to ABQ?
