Recently put a new motor with 140k miles on it. It was making a ticking noise so I took the oil cap off while running. Once the cap was loose the motor almost died then idled up for a second. When I put the can back out goes back to normal and will do that every time I remove the cap. I've never had this happen with any other motor. Has anyone had this happen before?

The crank case is under moderate vacuum via the PCV valve. Removing the oil cap creates a vacuum leak.

That's what I figured but I've never had a motor react that way when removing the cap. I'm not that familiar with the 3fe so I figured I'd ask. Thanks
