Guess I'll sign in, but haven't done too much. Acquired in 1999 when wife wanted an SUV to be cool. She calls me and asks, "Is a Land Cruiser a good car?". It's been great fun!
FRONT AXLE & LIFT:
She drove for a while, then son drove after going through 3 other cars, he was driving when it wouldn't go, it just sat making a grinding noise. Brought it to a transmission place who wanted $1,200 just to see what's wrong with it. I found IH8MUD and bought birf & female on the one side. Shocks were bad and saved a bunch of money, so bought the 2.5" OME and did all at once.
GAS:
It became my driver, but gas prices were killing me, so bought a daily driver in 2007 and keep it as a spare.
OTHER STUFF DONE:
Have replaced the alternator, starter, water pump, one fuel injector, countless tune-ups (plugs, wires, rotor & cap), and power steering (used). Got a used door & front fender after a wild night in out in the sticks (looks better, but wish I'd have kept the $1,200 and lived with the dents). Resealed the front axles again, I'm "gasket challenged" and every time I re-gasket it leaks. Just replaced the pipes with cat from manifold to y-pipe $660 for parts from rock auto (big mistake, should have used Midas). Then Denso O2's which fixed rough idle.
TO DO:
Right now I have a diff leak where the drive shaft hits front diff. I'll leave it alone and check the fluid often. Next purchase will be tires. Current 31" BFG have low tread, found out driving down to the river in mud and almost got stuck. I'm thinking about BFG MT KM2 33x10.5xr15, money is tight but may look at 35". Also have a new valve cover gasket & pcv, so may mess with the valves this summer. Also, may look at timing by ear because I can't find the timing window. Long range: AC doesn't work and radio volume knob fell off then post fell into the radio quite a few years ago. Hot, quiet ride in the summer time.
In summary, most important it's a very dependable spare! I have had some great fun 4-wheeling and have been very impressed, but don't do it as much. I enjoy working on it and look forward to about 10 years from now when the kids (and their bills) are gone so I can spend some money and play more.
