Gotta brag a bit here. The old Warthog may be 31 years old now, but she made her latest 700 mi trip from northern michigan to st louis without a hiccup!

You can't beat these things, if they are taken care of.

Mar 92 build with 110,000 original miles on her!

The engine just barely broken in...shouldn't have any hiccups!!
Understand that......ive had her for 9 yrs, and nothing required but preventive maintenance! I like to go into those long trips paranoid so I can be thrilled on the other side!

Help needed- I had a perfectly functioning truck whose only problem was a slight hesitation/hiccup when going from stopped to moving. I removed the throttle body and cleaned it out, adjusted the throttle stop and dash pot screws so the valve could close entirely, tested and adjusted the TPS (functioning according to spec now), tested the IAC, and duct taped my ancient air hose that feeds the TB. I also periodically removed the EFI fuse to reset the ECU. And installed new spark plugs. Now my idle seems to surge and wants to be higher than 650. The engine is shaking every now and then.
Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks

most likely unmetered air entering your system... or at least that seems to always be where my problems lead me back to with my '92.
Check your lines for condition & routing following the sticker on the underside of the hood.
Before replacing most of mine were cracked, or not fitting snugly on to the fittings letting air in.

I just had to replace my intake on the TB side with this hose because it was completely cracked all the way around and ripped in half when I was inspecting my air filter / tuna can.

New hoses between the throttle body and air filter are on the way…
Double checking hose routing is a good plan. I had replaced them 3 years ago when I got the truck

did you install the NEW updated material / media Thottle Body gasket , or simply re-use the existing one that was in-place like most folks do ?

17882- is what I should have probably ordered but I only drive ~3k a year so I jerry rigged it lol
red is what I replaced with the amazon tube. I also reused the clamps.
blue piece was starting to crack the end of the red where they come together & when I was looking at my air filter it just ripped in half lol.

it took longer to get the tube from amazon than to replace it

i like that BLUE Little Hose ....alot .... :D

@Marco Lau or @majdomo

Howdy fellow 3FE folks , happy 4th and stuff .... 🎇🎇🎇

- i am in the final stage of our new global standard and benchmark status ( hopefully ) Engine Family and Generation Badge that TOYOTA tripped over , then forgot to add to all 3FE engines globally 9/87-1990 ....

- below is the final and revised and indeed tweaked 3F carb Engine Badge i Reproduced to the best possible period correct details that matter in every way matter do details ,

- i referenced a total of 4 very different model years , and destination markets , including one on permanent display at the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum in salt lake city UT , this 3F carb badge in on a original 3F Carb Fire Brigade Land Cruiser ,

so i was able to acquire all the goodness from both very different 3F carb badges that adorn that blisser then Bliss UNICORN !

- i should simply mention for good measure , my concept vision idea starting point , to use the below 3F carb badge , as a basic fundamental foundation , was openly discussed here in 3FE check in several months ago , i requested any and all input and constructive feedback on the final 3FE badge from any source , because i felt strongly and still indeed do , this Artistin , mechanical , TECH , and other criteria was way way bigger then any one person or entity such as me or my online parts store small niche business for one good real world example , i am the spark that lit the fuse on this idea to begin with , so as profesional default dictates , in my world of morals at least , i would not and will not be the lone single source deciding factor here , that is out of my comfort zone to be very honest and open here as always ....

anyway , all that bla bla lingo out in the open forum now is a good and solid thing and off my mind is a understatement too  , ....

- so , ......

- since initial request for other 3FE owner operators and whoever else had anything at all to add here in any way ...

- i did receive a total of 6 different MUD members

- 5 were 3FE current owners of a running and driving 3FE , 1 was not a 3FE owner yet , but seemed somehow to be a bit more enthusiastic then me on owning one in the near future here , and that is nice to know for sure !

- i did apply some of the feedback from all of them and or confirm there feedback was already involved in some relevant way

- but .......

- with one exception , i didn't even know whisper about before until i was shown the below TECH images .....

- if your yawning by now ? yea , i know its alot to digest , if this Engine Badge matters to you , were almost done , so hang on because i save the best SH#T for last ...

- the below EMISSIONS Control system Decals all state
" 3F-E " and NOT the simple " 3FE " ...

- this is a way TOYOTA assigned MOTOR Family and features such as EFI , TURBO , Double OverHead Cams , Scissors Gears ,

- the 22R & 22R-E are the most common example here to camparson the period of 3F and 3F-E production same in kind timeline era ..

- NOTE : our new engine badge is NOT yet complete , in regards to the tech. specs in the larger pewter area below the smaller RED above ...

- needed final input and details : , i want and need a 2nd and 3rd verified facts source please .......

- they are as listed below in same order as they appear on the final 3F carb badge above our new one below it ...

- the Valve Clearance specs , HOT 0.20mm / ( 0.008 in & 0.35mm ( 0.014mm )

- spark plug gaps ...

- the Distributor dwell angle 2 lines get AXED / omitted altogether entirely , because word DWELL applies to a Points Based ignition system Distributor , not a Fully Transistorized one on like ALL 3F-E 's came with ...

- that creates a major KOOLNESS factor situation to skunk-works out here quickie like , but also well thought out same time too ,,,,,,!

- what do we do with that now free reliststate of 2 FULL on lines , now ... ideas anyone ? time to think harder then hard , and make it count too here ,,,

- ill post my idea input , on the 2 free-space lines further below in its special place you will soon see ..

- firing order ...

- idle speed

- rpm A/T rpm M/T

NOTE : i reserved the next thread post because i want and need to keep this updated topic all in one place for now ....
