Could be power steering fluid if you've got a 3fe. Steering gear us driver side & from what I gather most of them leak.

Where is the steering gear? That might be it, as it was whining when I cranked it to one side, but I never heard the sound before and didn't have an issue until I sprung a leak on the low pressure return side. I just replaced the line last week.

On driver side. Follow steering shaft from firewall goes directly into steering gear. System should run ATF most of them wind up w/ power steering fluid which eats the seals & then they leak (like mine).

I'll check this in the morning. I just refilled it with ATF and the fluid line looks full. If I need to replace this, is there somewhere I can get this? It looks like OEM is discontinued.

Thanks

Good luck. There are some write ups on steering gear seal installs. Check them out it looks a bit daunting

You are probably fine, but I imagine you can check by getting your cruiser on jack stands and letting the suspension droop all the way to see how much it pulls on your center brake lines (or go somewhere that gets them to flex). I have a 2.5" ome lift and added extended lines just in case and they have ample room.

Im running oem 2.5 lift with stock brake lines

Hi All, looking for a front hood latch assembly, wondering about inter-series part compatibility, I own a 1992 LC FJ80 (4.0L 6cyc) but can only find 1993 hood latch assembly, most sites list it as incompatible, part numbers and schematics appear to be the same, are the parts between 91-97 mostly compatible for the same trim?

Is there a torque spec for the banjo bolt? I tried looking but I didn't see anything after a quick search

Ok mudders I need yer help. I'm stuck in parking lot. 2 days ago I took a corner & trick died. No prob check batt & a loose positive cable- tightened & thought all good. Not so. Since then truck will die going around corners (can always turn back on while I'm rolling). Last night she wouldn't start- crank no start. Got in this morning & she started right up. 30 mile drive into town & we are dying around corners & large bumps. Parked did my business & now I'm sitting in parking lot resisting the urge to kill my battery by endlessly cranking it.

Sounds like a loose connection, broken wire or failed fusible links. Is the battery properly secured in its tray? Is the CEL (check engine light) illuminated with the ignition turned on before attempting to start?

I had close to same issue. Ended up being a few issues for me. Previous owner did away with fuesable link . Which i think Fried some wires which then i thank killed my Distributor. Long story short. It would run some times then jist die. Sometimes would start right back up. Sometimes not. . Not sure if same issue but hope this will point you down the right path.

No CEL. I got under the old gal & saw a few items of concern ( I'm attempting to attach pics as I write this). There is a ground wire from t-case to frame that was resting on muffler & almost cooked thru
Of more concern is a bundle of wires hanging above axle w/ damaged foam sleeve. Hopefully the pics will show.

I guess the pics didn't come thru...S__t! I'll try one more time.

Of course. Worst pic is only one to make it. Aaand now I can't get anything to load. F___!!! I wonder if it's possible to die of frustration? Anyway, the bundle w/ the damaged foam sleeve is right by fuel filter. My question is this- wouldn't start last night & started fine this morning. Any suggestions on getting it started now? I really don't want to sleep in this parking lot.
