Howdy guys!
Had the cruiser for about 2 months now and have since done some simple stuff since buying it for the steal of 200 bucks!
It was hardly running, and had been on a trickle charger for 3 years from the PO. while their son was driving it to HS.
I've replaced the cats, alternator, battery, plugs, wires, charcoal can (w/ the recommended autozone swap) and totally cleaned the interior.
I'm also in the process of removing the bumpers to replace with some custom tube work unless I find something for cheap on craigslist or FB.

So far, I'm loving the cruiser compared to my previous single cab ranger.

Does anyone know what the part number for the speed sensor is that goes directly into the tcase? I'm trying to see if this will fix my cruise control.

33403-69245?

Well I picked up a 1991 FJ80 for what I thought was a good deal. Zero rust California/ Texas Truck. Previous owner claimed that the engine had been swapped and has paperwork for Head gasket replacement and engine swap. Got it home only to find oil in the coolant and cloudy engine oil. Swapping a new triple core radiator in tomorrow and flushing the system. Previous owner is adiment that it’s just residue and left over from the swap and repair.

You guys tell me how screwed I am? What should I do?

Can't tell yet if you are screwed. Flush coolant like you said and maybe do a couple oil changes and then check. So engine was swapped and then head gasket was done? Even if gasket needs to be done it is doable or finding another engine is doable without bankrupting you. About how much did you get it for if you don't mind sharing?
Your truck looks pretty nice though.

Thanks overall condition is pretty solid, old man emu lift and shocks, interior is in decent shape. Yes so the engine was supposedly swapped and had some overheating issues, so it was taken in for a new heat gasket and machining. I drove it for 3 hours home with no overheating or issues. Previous owner is saying it’s residual and with a couple flushes it will clean out. I paid 5500$

if flushing works then you got a nice truck for a good price.

In the Denver area it seems like that truck would go for that price with a known blown engine. I would still feel good about that price for the condition and accessories it already has.

Picking up a rebuilt 3fe on Tuesday and am going.to put on my stand to mock the turbo set up. Can anyone tell me the thread and pitch of the bolts I need to attach the stand to the block?

My cruiser is on the other side of the country country so I can't just go and grab one.

In the planning stages of running power from the battery to the rear end of the vehicle. I can’t find a thread specific to 91/92, any empty grommets on the passenger side that people have used?

If coolant has been in the oil for a while it can break down the rod/main bearings. I would probably pull the oil pan and check a rod and main bearing. If they look bad I would replace them.

I’ll pull the pan tomorrow and see.

Got the front end off today. Taking the radiator out with the fan aground in place is a pain in the ass but I did it. Have new AC condenser and radiator that will go in. I know there’s a ton of information on these forums. With the rad pulled off what other preventative work should I do? Gonna replace the belts while I’m in there. Any advice for re installation of the radiator? New fan shroud maybe?

Maybe replace the fan clutch, thermostat, and water pump, along with any hard to reach hoses.

I use Asian red coolant made by Zerex, used to be able to get it from Amazon...if your doing a radiator and block flush, you should be able to use normal green coolant. For Socal, i use 60/40 mix and a bottle of water wetter..
Thanks Marco. Bought some 50/50 at Puente Hills Toyota.

Nice setup.
What exactly did you have to fix with the back window?
Just wondering as I have an issue falling off the rails and wondering what others are remedy with.
Sorry for the delay in answering. The rear window I just had to adjust where the glass sat in the channel, just brute force lining it up.

No worries on delay,
I think my window is so old that it has fused to the rail. Feels like I am going to break it if I brute force line it up.
The rail falls off the track on mine so I was wondering if there was a trick.

For now that back passenger window doesn't get rolled down ;)
Hopefully some gunk penetration will loosen it up and patience.

Just bought my 3rd 80 series. I have a habit of buying a derelict 80 series dropping bunch of money onto it then selling it for less then what it is worth. I hope this time I learn my lesson and keep it. The good is there is little rust. The bad....well let's just say I am going to learn a lot about the 3fe.

I think the sign says it all. This is basically a farm find that need everything but a moter and tramny...I hope. PO said he drove it about 1000 mi sense he bought it in 2003. It just sat in his barn. He put a plow on it in 2017 when his 1987 Toyota truck fell in half. The PO was moving to down size so did not need the LC anymore.

For $1600. I figured it was worth a shot.

Please chime in and tell me what a fool I have been.

Just FYI. My budget for parts is up to $10k. I am going to need it.
