Just thought I'd throw this up here because it compliments the kit well:
GT20 GT2052 GT2052V Garrett Turbo Downpipe Flange 2.5" Outlet 1/2" thick CNC MS
![]()
I got that and a 2.5" donut pipe which I'll use a90deg section of to make the sharp bend needed to fit this in my rhd bj46.

I have not! I was going to use in on a 2b that was on the worn side to get some more power and reduce the excessive smoke at altitude. I set that truck aside due to transfer case issues and have been using my 3b powered bj46 and frankly the turbo has slipped down the list of priorities because the engine is in such good shape that it works great for most of my purposes. If time were no issue it would have been on a a long time ago. Armor, suspension, gearing then engine is the new order of priorities.....
Keith-
Cool that the kit keeps getting updated! is there an updated page listing all the parts etc?

If You frequent the Diesel Tech forum you know Diesel42.
If You know about turbo kits for the 3B You know Diesel 42 makes one exclusively for 'Mud Members.
D42 has sold many of these kits to 'Mudders but no one has really described his kit in detail after buying one.
First let's start with the install.
Pulled the old exhaust manifold

Dry Fit the new one... Yep gonna have to re route those heater lines

Pulled my Push Rod Cover..... 2Hrs to get it off, 1Hr to get the gasket off of the cover and 3 more Hrs to get the rest of the gasket off of the block! I hate those gaskets.
A side note... Check for dishing on your cover if there is any dishing around the bolt holes gently tap them as flush as possible with a hammer and brass block.

Painted and re-installed Push Rod Cover with cork gasket and Permatex FormAGasket #2 both sides. did not over tighten.

Re-routed heater lines, dropped oil pan, welded bung, Painted pan, re-installed with new OEM pan gasket. removed oil plug from side of block for oil feed line replaced with supplied fitting.
D42's kit comes with 99% of everything you need to do this. He even includes the silicone hose adapters for the throttle body and the compressor outlet. The only pieces I had to purchase separately was connections from air cleaner to compressor inlet, the pipe to go from the turbo to the throttle body and exhaust flange.
Here's the turbo being installed on the manifold.

I lucked out at the metal superstore and got a 12" piece of 2" stainless pipe for 2CAD fit perfectly between my turbo and throttle body

After the turbo was in place, I torqued all my fittings for the oil lines and hoses etc. For the air cleaner to the turbo i bought a 3"-2" silicone reducer a 2" coupler and a 45 degree 2" exhaust pipe. total of about 100CAD. Expensive when I could have used a piece of central vac hose I'm sure it would have done the trick but this way it looked consistent with D42s kit.
I had a local exhaust shop do the connection to my existing 2.25" muffler-ed exhaust setup. it was pricey but it looks great.
Here is the final install.

Also not included in the kit of course is your choice of gauges. I went with the Auto Meter Ultra Light II series Electric Pyro and Mechanical Boost gauges. They are temporarily taking up my ash tray slot but do not like them there. They will be moved one day in the near future.
Stay Tuned for Performance Review tomorrow...
there are tons of inexpensive ebay ones that will work just fine, i have one on mineIn the long run you can’t beat what Keith has put together I’ve been running mine for years and he is absolutely a professional, the manifold, turbo everything is amazing. Great quality and perfectly made for the 3B to add the T to the end just like Mr Toyota should have - I had a bit of an issue after clocking the turbo I could only get one bolt to line up to hold the wastegate actuator bracket but it was easily remedied with some fiddling drilling a hole and everything else went smooth.
I was shocked when all my exhaust manifold bolts backed out, I thought eat your heart out chev and ford guys with your broken studs my ancient truck from the rust belt just had every faster back out without fuss. I replaced them all and liberally antiseized them for the next guy. Likely me ; D
Turning up the fuel is kinda a weird thing on the 3B I tried to up mine a bit but didn’t wanna roll coal anyway and I actually found a good decrease in EGT’s compared to NA which was nice also was able to ditch my muffler and it sounds nice and fairly quiet.
Just wanted to say thanks to Kieth again after all these years the truck still is running great. I do have a quick question does anyone know of a good turbo blanket that would fit perfectly? I keep having issues with the wastegate actuator placement rubbing on the blanket. Thanks for any direction, the reason I ask is I just had my hood redone and i want the paint to stay looking nice
at boost levels that are a good idea to run on a B? no it's not neededIs there no need to install inter cooler?
