My vote is for 35's. I am running a 4" BDS lift with 3 inch longer shackles and 35x12.5 Super swamper ssr's

What have I started? I take back any mention of TLCA events.
However, TLCA isn't saying anything less than 33's aren't capable of making the run, they are saying anything smaller than 33's are TOO HARD ON THE TRAIL.

I have a pic of one on my home computer with 37's on a 2.5" lift with cut rear quarters. They looked kind of stuffed, but would likely work in most situations.

I run bfg 35's with a 4" lift and no P.S. that said a 33x10.50 or the 34" LTB would probably be better overall.

SS TSL 32 x 10.50. Works everytime... and looks great too! And this pic shows them with your HFS 4 inch lift.
I agree with you. I run the 32x10.50 TSL radials and love them. not too big, but managable without power steering.

Bought mine with 33x12.5, stock except for redneck shackle lift. Added 2.5" springs and +1.5" shackles and put 31x12.5 on.
Scratching your head? Ya, me too. The 33's were dry rot and the 31's were free (the only way I'd put thornturds on). In the process of adding PS and will wheel the turds for a bit until the pocket fills back up. The 31's look too small but I have yet to fully flex.

to me it's not the height that's the main problem, it the width. I would not put anything wider than a 10.50 without PS. Unless you want bodybuilder sized forearms.

With a 4" lift I would go with 33's. I have 35x12.5 on the '78 w/4" lift but rear is cut. Steering is not a problem on it but it's not got a locker in the front. NEVER put a locker in the front without P/S. I remember the blisters when I tried that in my '71 with 33's at Tellico...
33's would be the best all around tire, but if you plan on cutting up the truck throw on the 35's

All depends on what your plans are. With my '71 I most likely will never cut but do wheel regularly. With the '78 we planned on doing whatever to make a trail truck. No attachments as far as history. Work in progress as are most...
I run 31's with a mild shackle lift to correct saggy springs, I would think that with a 4" lift, it would look like ass, I would say that with a 4" lift 35's would be about right.

Basically, where as everyone used to want to upgrade to 35's, now it's 37's that everyone wants.
as far as tire size goes like others have said alot depends on how much sheet metal you wanna ding up, for me i dont care that much because this cruiser is mostly a off road rig, wanna keep it street legal but only so i can get to the trail...i think that 33's would be best but iv run stuff that people say you need 35's and lockers for on 28" tires and open diffs, it all depend on how hard you wheel and your driving style
