Yep, that had the forum going when the 300 was revealed to have the same range as the 200 despite the efficiency gains.

Im pretty sure that were it not for the fuel tank reduction, loss of 2 cylinders, and loss of split tailgate they would both also weigh the same.
Sounds about right. Disappointing. Limited range is one of my very few gripes with the 200.

A lot of great angles to look at on that video. That 600D sounds great too. I was leaning hard to push the :princess: for a Defender but this may pull me back in. No idea why so many bash the console and dash, my god, with 3 huge screens, how many buttons and knobs does one need? Looks to me they did well and kept all the critical functional controls analog an moved all the other crap you don't NEED digital.
Not seeing anything remotely similar to the 80 they claimed to pull back into the 300/ LX outside the wheelbase measurements, lug pattern and body on frame tho.
Still looking to see one on a set of 35's easily to seal the seal...

We ain’t seen nothing yet. I don’t mean to harp on the whole EV thing, but the automotive world is undergoing a quantum shift in future drivetrains. It may take a little longer than anticipated, but gasoline engines are heading for extinction. The dream utopia of every car on the freeway being electric may not happen in my lifetime - but it will absolutely happen. Gas stations will no longer exist either in the far far off future (100 years from now).

This 3.4L V6 that’s going in the Tundra/LS600/LC300 is a bridge motor that’ll eventually be honed down even smaller as these vehicles become hybrids and the electric drivetrains take over more & more of the work until eventually - the vehicles will be pure BEVs.

Anyone moaning about the downsizing and advancement of the current V6 is looking at that engine from the past’s perspective. The past is gone and it’s not sustainable. Time to move on towards the future- and the future will be much nicer once these stinking IC engines get off the road.
We're getting way off topic now, but there's plenty of other technology being HEAVILY invested in other than just BEVs.

So has anyone else noticed it looks like the front fenders and hood may be carry overs from the LC300? Without part numbers it’s hard to confirm but it makes me hopeful that one could potentially swap the front fascia for LC300 parts.

I was wondering this myself too. I would love to see the new LX with LC front. But all we can do for now is compare the frame/body.

Adding further, the more I study it, it looks like there are minor tweaks to both the fenders and hood. But otherwise, I'd be surprised if a fascia, hood, and fender swap was not direct bolt on. Of course, it could be cost prohibitive.

I went back and confirmed there are two additional intercoolers on both sides of the grill after i made this.
Theres nothing you can do about the size of the grill here as its actually kind of being put to good use.

I stand by my original concept. Make it even bigger.
The way it is now is goofy as hell. We don't need 3 separate tasteless inlets in mismatched colors, materials, and design.

For the 750h i would also extend the lower L headlight all the way across as a lightbar to make it a bit more "special".
Before anyone says anything i know MUD is going to hate anything like that but thats not the point.

Lexus has to progress in some shape or form and obviously cant just give us what they already have before. Thats Toyota engineerings job.

I wonder what the reasoning was behind removing the split tailgate? This really impacts the usefulness. They could have at least made the rear window roll down or open. Is anyone happy that the split tailgate is gone?

Easier to make it fully powered is my guess. One actuator rather than two. I like the split gate but it does make reaching stuff in the cargo area more difficult

I'm not "happy," but I do see these upsides:
- large weight savings
- cost savings
- easier to reach into the cargo area

Keep in mind who is buying these things new: one "enthusiast" for every hundred soccer moms. Soccer moms don't care about tailgates.

Reasoning? None. Just profit margins padding with the excuse that it weighs 20lbs less.

I know nothing about the specs but I’m willing to bet 80% of the weight savings came from engine downsize.

The idea that 400 lbs was shaved off by good engineering and design is a joke. From the engine to the gas tank to the new use of aluminum and shared tnga platform, the missing split gate etc is all cost savings and manufacturing consolidations we shouldn’t fool ourselves into thinking they are good design decisions for weight reduction.

The absolute mockery that is the rear gate on the 300 is further demonstrated by the fact you can not lift up the glass independently either. So forget about mounting things to your hitch or accessing anything with a bumper prior to swing out.

All of that btw for a total of %5 weight reduction. The 300 is a slap in our face.

No, i am not happy. I use my tailgate to sit on, cook on, clean fish, prep food, etc. couldnt care less if the tailgate is powered or not. They didn’t even allow for a roll down rear window. Big miss for my use cases but i am sure that 99% of the buyers could care less.

Dang. No rear window access? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accessed stuff and or packed to the gills using glass only on the expo.

That said, the tailgate is no big loss to me. What is a loss is the 4 gal of extra fuel capacity. My 570 would be dang near perfect with a 40 gal fuel tank.
