What, you don’t believe in the Blue Fairy?
Haven’t you seen Pinocchio??
Come on! :hillbilly:

By the way... Like @Canyonero and @mcgaskins ...I don’t think it’s so far-fetched that Toyota might notice forums from time to time. It’s just that Toyota is deeeeep in the production cycles, and far beyond changes for this go-round. Forums are not exactly estranged from the likes of Cruiser Outfitters, Slee Offriad, Trail Taylor, BudBuilt, and many others in Australia and elsewhere that push LCs to the limits. Many of those company operators have been personally invited to offer input to Toyota. Forums and feedback to aren’t so far away.

Obviously suggesting things to Toyota so late in this particular production cycle means even if they were reading every word with baited breath...it’s too late. But I suspect Toyota is very keen on KEEPING enthusiasts...enthusiastic. Sometimes they fail, but I do believe they care deeply about the Land Cruiser and it remains personal to them.

Many on my list are already available on overseas models, so why not here. There are factory petrol and diesel engine options in 4.0, 4.5, 4.6, and 5.7, snorkels, racks, bull bars, seating options, etc

Isnt most of this driven by mileage caps and quotas? Toyota cant sell too many LCs because it skews their mileage average down? Cant remember where I saw that or something similar to that. Maybe wrong. They have a lot of different trim levels, drivetrains etc on overseas models but dont choose to sell them here.

My wish list for what they actually could/would do for this market:

Make it “feel” and “drive” smaller. Our 100 feels a lot smaller than it is. My wife will barely drive the 200 because it drives like a bigger car than it is. Cant see corners as well, etc.

Fix the satellite radio antenna, in general smooth out the whole head unit and interface. Something like bmws i drive which is awesome in our x5d.

Better interior color options. Love the light gray of my 100. Couldnt find a silver 200 with anything other than black. I agree w others the headliner could be tougher.

Bigger tank has been mentioned.

3rd row removeable seats well covered.

TRD package seems easy and a cheap way for Toyota to make easy money.

And am I the only one that thinks they could sell a lot of a smaller “sport” model similar to RR? Their sport model sells really well and is a great looking car. Maybe heresy but would be a cool dream car!

They do. It's called a 4Runner.

And GX 460 and its platform mate Land Cruiser Prado.

I predict that whatever they release will probably make everyone long for a feature that was on a 200 series... or a 100, or 80.

Cars and trucks in the US are all converging due to regulations.

I bet Toyota Gibraltar will have a 300 we will all want in the US.

as a 100 series owner i don't have much to add but here are my thoughts:

don't take design cues from the next gen highlander/rav4

take design cues from 4 runners/Tacoma if have to resuse existing language

figure out better gas mileage 25-30 highway - slightly reduce size if needed

-dont remove 3rd row, its such a practical additon

- do make captain chair 2nd row standard, better yet figure out a way to allow middle seat in 2nd row to be removed for people who want it or don't again catering to practicality (captain chairs are big selling point for large families who want kids to have easy access to backseat)

Glad yota has some better sensibilities against some of the wishes here.

Overseas doesn’t have to deal with the EPA, and they already have to Toyota Service infrastructure to deal with diesels.

Ya...but just like the 80, 100 and 200 (all of them got blasted by “purists” early on)...after about 7 years, LC guys will start to realize they do very well offroad, and people feel way better than they did upon release.

I've posted this before, but Toyota Gibraltar is really interesting.

A little different than the U.S. configuration: steel wheels, diesel V8, manual transmission, no screens.

Nice. Check out all those blank switch areas! And manual. Manual everything that is.

Pretty cool really.

Though why even bother with the faux wood steering wheel?

I'm sure there are likely very few Chevy fans here but here is more fuel for this fire. Chevy apparently is responding to consumer demand. A midsize competitor to the tacoma, the ZR2 Bison. Front and rear lockers, full skids, diesel, snorkel, AEV front and rear bumpers plus rock sliders. All from the factory and already completely sold out for 2019. Booking out around 50k....

UV/wear resistance?
I was thinking it's already in the parts bin. Maybe there's no savings producing a small number of stripped down steering wheels, for instance

If only it had old school dials/switches for the climate, it would be perfect.

I get what you're saying but the Land Cruiser owner is not willing to sacrifice capability for durability. We're just not. I was tempted to buy a new JL... but spending a little time on the Jeep forums is very eye-opening.

Ultimately, Toyota knows what they're doing. They know that their number 1 mission is to build the next LC like a tank. We may have gripes about the details, but we will buy it and then look to the aftermarket to customize the truck.

I'm probably about 2 years late with this thread, but it's fun to hear what everyone's wish list items are! I read today the new Tundra has been confirmed and might be a 2021 model... with a 3.5 turbo 6 and 10-speed. I assume the same will be in the next LC.
