Last 2 pics.

Pics of my buddy's. He started with a similiar 70's XS650. He stretched the swing arm 3" sand re-made the sub-frame to fit what he wanted.

Wow, right on. Previously you just made me feel like a slacker when it comes to Landcruisers. But now I get to feel even more guilty about my slow-mo bike rebuilds too.

Can't wait to see the finished product. Now don't go getting mangled driving around on that chopper (they don't steer worth a damn). We all want to see this LPB finished!

Got about 3 hours on the lpb tonight....figured I had ignored it enough, better get back at it.

Doesn't look like a lot, but took a while to get all this done. I had ordered up some headliner material from yourautotrim.com last week that showed up Friday. Wife gave me a hand and we cut and glued in the headliner. After that she gave me a hand and helped me set it on top of the cab. Slowly but surely I was able to get all the bolts back in and tightened up. Everything looked great in the end.

Hoping to get the door weatherstripping glued on tomorrow night and get some doors swinging. I was going to wait to put the doors on until I got the windows installed, but I think I want to do it know. Just nervous with those doors sitting there and I don't think the glass guy will have a problem working around the doors.

Matt,

I have a question, repairing the body work on the 45. Your able to weld it and fix it, could the the same be done with a new vehical with thinner sheet metal? Or would it just warp?

About 1.5 hours on the lpb tonight.

Not a lot, but about 45 minutes per side to get the inner door weatherstripping glued on. Went pretty good, had the OEM Toyota stuff so it fit nice. Had to screw around with the wiring harness on my bike a bit so not a whole lot done.

Hoping to get the doors hung tomorrow and the door mechs back in and latching.

Absolutely. Same as the cruisers, just take your time so it doesn't get to hot.

Kinda quiet in here lately, Matt. Everything ok? ;)

Everything is fine....to be honest, I have been extremely busy at work. Worked all last weekend and I have been at work late every night this week.

Really haven't spent anytime on the bike or 45. I did have the glass guys out yesterday and got the glass in. Hoping to get the doors hung tonight and the mechs back in......pics to come of all that this evening hopefully.

Did manage to toss the tank on the bike last week.....get a little idea how that looks. Although I still am only about 15 hours into it and about $400 dollars ;p Might be playing with that a bit this weekend also ;)

Got about 2.5 hours on the lpb tonight.

The glass got installed yesterday by the local glass guys, so I can't take credit for that. Took 2 guys a little over an hour to get 4 pieces of glass installed.

This evening I had the wife out helping me hang doors. She was threading in bolts as I held them up there. Didn't take much adjusting before I got them nicely fitted in the door jambs. Spent time cleaning up parts in the doors before installing them. They actually all looked great, just a little dirty. Got the glass installed in the passenger side and the door latch assembly. Installed the drivers side latch mech, so that was closing nicely.

Probaby get the glass installed tomorrow night on the drivers side. I think I'm going to wait on the window door trim until after paint. I think it will be easier to tape and paint around that area and then install it afterwards.

I'm interested in your painting technique - How will you blend the painted areas with the new paint. Is this a base/clear job and will you use the clearcoat to blend?

Obvious question: why not paint all the exterior surfaces first and then install the glass? Just wondered... As an amateur painter, I'm always interested in other folk's techniques.

Thanks,

Steve
