Matt, looks great thanks. So you are planning a crew cab cruiser, right ;) off the subject, but could you look at the seats on the new thread I just posted and tell me if you think they look close to the old seats you used on your LV? I have a couple of minutes left before I have to bid or not.

Posted on your seat thread.

Question for the Lpb owners.

Headliner, where does it terminate and how? Pic should pretty much say it all. Mine was in there, but had a bunch of duck tape holding it up in there.

Just wondering where it ends and if there is a trim stripp or something? Pics would be great!!

Thanks, Matt

Headliner fun

The headliner tucks under that lip.

Even though I caulked the roof very well, the headliner catches some wind that leaks through the roof, and billows down. So even though it's nearly impossible, use some glue right up to that tuck-under edge and be sure you get the headliner fully glued down.

It will look great when you're done, as that steel edge hides the cut edge of the headliner.

Got about 4 hours on the lpb tonight.

First order of business was to sand out a couple runs in the clear on the roof. Didn't take any pics, but blocked them out with 1500 grit and then buffed them out.......good as new.

Then I blocked out the outside of the doors with 220. That last coat of ureathane primer is exactly what they needed, they looked real good. Applied seam sealer to the doors, rear cab and hood. Took a few pics of how my friend in the autobody business taught me. Basiclly ran tape on each side of where I wanted the seam sealer. Run a bead, run your finger through it and pull the tape. The seam sealer looks neat, clean and factory.

Hung everything up and shot a couple coats of DP50LF. Looking pretty nice, might have to wet sand a couple spots. I gotta work tomorrow night, so I'll see what they look like in the morning. Might be able to sand them out and get them in base/clear before I goto work in the afternoon.

Thanks Steve, exactly the info I needed.

3 hours on the lpb this morning.

Had to do a little wet sanding in a couple spots, but that only took about 10 to 15minutes. Got everything prepped and shot a couple coats of base, turned out nice. Waited about a half hour and shot 2 coats of DCU2021. I think overall everything turned out really good.....considering all this is on the inside and no one will see it :)

I like shinny paint alot, looking good.

Ever put on the seam sealer over the tape and not removed it quick enough and had it pull like boogers?

I did and then quickly pulled out a artist brush dipped it into thinners and smoother it, now i use that method everytime to finishe my seam sealer, gives it a seamless look.

Radd, can you give a little more detail about your seam sealer trick?

Ok, I have to ask. Which one is your favorite cruiser that you have done? What's next...A Troopy?

Try it for fun first, put down some seam sealer, solvent in a can and a soft paint brush and run the brush down the length until it goes smooth, the brush lines disappear with the solvent.

Got about 2 hours on the lpb tonnight.

Snapped the rubber back onto the bottom of the cab, went on just like it came off...easy. I had my neighbor come over and give me a hand setting it back on the lower cab, went on perfect. Bolted the hardtop back down with S.S. hardware, everything lined up just like it came off. Brought the hood in and set it on also.

Got some of the upper door hardware I had painted weeks ago and got that all bolted up, no problems there. Made some hood hinge pads out of some rubber that I had left over from the lv project. Traced out the hinges and then cut them out on a cutting board in the kitchen. I think overall they look pretty factory.

I have some headliner material on order, so can't put the roof on until I get that. Going to wait to put the roof and doors on until I get the glass in...waiting on some weatherstripping from Cruiserdan, that should be here soon I think. Might try to get the shoulder belts cleaned up and bolted back in tomorrow.....worst case scenerio I might start working on the box.
