Had some stuff going on tonight, only got about 1.5 hours on the lpb tonight.

Not a ton done, pretty much started on that rear quarter. Hacked out the bad area and started making the new piece. I left the lower part in while I made the upper piece so I could get the curve exactly right. Made the flat piece first out of tag board first and then traced it and cut it out of steel.

After I got that where I wanted it I sheared a 7/8" piece of flat stock on tacked it around the edge. Took my time and slowly tacked it. In between tacking I cut the lower part out where I am going to replace that part of the quarter panel. After it was all welded I ground the inner welds down nice and smooth so it looked like a formed piece of metal.

Hoping to get out there tomorrow night, blast that inside area, prime and finish up that rear quarter. Not sure if I'll get the bracket back on, but maybe....

Oh wow I was up in 100 Mile looking at those vehicles about 4 months. I didn't pick them up at the time, but was considering. and yes us canadians dont mind the rust... it comes with the road salt....;p

but now i have my 45 so I gue4ss it was worh the wait.

Body work stuff is far beyond me...

Got about 3.5 on the lpb tonight, pretty good night.

Started right back in on that rear quarter. I blasted that area inside the back, figured I was there, might as well clean it up. Gave it a quick shot of primer. I made a paper template of the quarter panel first (sorry no pic) and then cut it out of steel. I bent it up and started tacking it in. I really took my time and slowly started on one side as I tacked about every 1/2" as I rolled it along making the curve. I made sure everything was straight and lined up, tapping it with the hammer if needed. After it was all tacked, took my time and slowly stitched it up. After it was all done, ground everything down. I think overall it turned out great.

I then started welding that floor piece in that I made last night. That was fairly easy to weld in. Made sure I clamped everything tight against the outside quarter when I spot welded it. After everything was welded in and cleaned up.....I don't think I could have done it any better. Cleaned everything up, blew it off and shot a couple coats of DP50LF epoxy primer.

Still have to do a little minor work on the rear cab bracket. Once that is fix and cleaned up, get that welded back in. I don't know if I will be able to work on it for a couple days. Although I might try to shoot a couple coats of ureathane primer on what I have done so far on the exterior. Get some sandable primer on and get ready to start sanding.

Few other shots mixed in tonight also.

Got about a .5 (half hour) working time on the lpb today. But I did get about 6 hours on the road though :D

As many of you know I made a deal on a 66 lwb frame and box over a week ago. I had been working on shipping with some local shippers, basiclly waiting until a local truck that was out west had room. Friday morning I got the call......local shipper had a truck coming out of Tacoma, Wa and would be in Spokane, WA in about 4 to 5 hours. He had exactly 19 ft on the back end of his truck. He need to know if I could arrange to have the chassis picked up in that time frame?

Well the phone calls were set in motion at that point. Next call was made to Aaron (Riddler) in Spokane, WA....who currently had the remains of the 66 and was the catalyst behind this whole deal (Thanks again Aaron  ). To make a long story short and after several phone calls back and forth......Aaron got the chassis to Rouse's towing in Spokane per my shippers instructions. When the truck arrived, they winched the chassis onto a roll back truck and then rolled it into the 53 ft. trailer. Worked absolutely perfect. So, that was Friday late afternoon...........now today........

I could have waited a week or 2 for the truck to be delivered to my door. It was scheduled to goto Minneapolis, MN and it would sit down there until they had another load with space going to Northern MN, 7 hours north of Minneapolis. Or, I could arrange to meet the driver in Fargo, ND.....3 hours south of me. Well......me being me, you can imagine what I did. Made the arrangements Saturday night, got up before dawn and was at a interstate rest-stop at 8:30 this morning. Took a couple photo's, brought the deckover trailer so it would be high enough to roll it off the truck with ramps. Needless to say it took a total of 2 minutes to get it off his truck and onto my trailer.....everybody was very happy. Strapped everything down and headed North again. Rolled back into my driveway right at noon.

I got that .5 hour in later this evening.....the wife had me busy all day and then we had another deal we went to tonight. I did manage to get my cab mount fixed and make a little bracket. I have no idea what that little triangle piece does, but it was on there...so I'm putting it back on in the name of keeping everything orginal.

Took a few photos of the 66 frame and box in my driveway. Very, Very happy with what I have here. Bought the whole thing for less than what others were shooting me a price for just a frame. And I know some of you are thinking that box looks bad, not at all!! Surface rust all over it because someone started to fix it and ground all the paint off and didn't topcoat it with anything. So the bare metal rusted, it looks way worse than it is. Box is rust free and pretty dam straight, even the bed isn't that bent up? It's going to need a little work, but at least I have a good start. I do plan on swapping out the rear valance sheet metal, so the box has 78 taillights in it....essentially a 78 box. Also needs a new tailgate, but that is doable.

Hope to get that cab mount welded on tomorrow and maybe start tearing into that frame???
