2nd row removal and SRS fix

Any time the airbag light is on there should be a code at that point. What are you using to read them? Techstream obviously will pull them, I've read/reset SRS codes with my Carista before, but some readers may not get into those parts of the toyota canbus system to pull SRS.

I still don't understand the logic around doubling resistance.

You messed up a connector, so you repaired that, then plugged the seat back in, and now still get a light?
Ignore the second resistor thing.

I’m using an Autel AL619. Don’t have a TechStream setup yet. Wondering if something is wrong with the other side seat connector given that the battery sat unplugged and I still have the light.

After removing my 3rd and 2nd row seats in my 2016 LC, The SRS warning light lit up. Here is what you need to turn it off again. Essentially you must trick the SRS ECU into thinking the side impact airbag in the seat is still present. To do so you must put a 2.2ohnm 2watt flame proof resistor in line where the squib once was.

Parts list;

(2) Toyota housing connectors
90980-12697
(2) 2.2ohnm 2watt flameproof resistors
NTE2W2D2
(2) Volkswagen wires
000-979-017-E
And some shrink wrap tubbing

The hardest part of this project was finding the parts. Oddly enough Toyota doesn't sell the wires with pins attached but thank god VW does.
Just did this mod on my 2013. Worked perfectly. Thanks so much for putting this procedure together! How you ever discovered those VW pins, I'll never figure out!

I now have an extra couple of 2.2 ohm resistors, if anyone wants them (bought a pack of 4). Zip me your snailmail addy and I'll throw them in an envelope if you're in the US.

To bring this back from the dead -

Those of you that have removed the second row without using a resistor to mimic the seat being in the vehicle, when you reinstall the second row does the airbag light turn off on it's own, or have you had to use a code reader, or the dealer to have the light reset? Thanks!

The light will turn off but the code is stored until it is cleared.

I can’t speak for all Bluetooth OBD code readers but my Carista was able to read and reset SRS codes without issue, in case you wanted a non-dealer option. And obviously it’s useful for a lot more stuff than just this specific scenario.

For those who removed their 2nd row permanently, do you have some sort of "all weather mat" solution to cover fuzzy base carpet?
