2f hp (2 Viewers)

Wondering realistically how many hp you could get out of a 2f . Turboed , or otherwise . Also wondering how many rpm you can get out of one w/ different cam , valve springs etc . Trying to figure out if it would be possible to make 200 hp and still have some sort of reliability .

I was thinking a 2f from a mid eighties 60 series with a head from a 74 , maybe a custom ground cam , gm throttle body w/some sort of tunable ecm (megasquirt ?)Heavy valve springs (I've heard chev ones work well) with custom intake and exhaust manifolds . I think It would be on the cheap . Just wondering if you guys think I can make that much power ?

AT the crank yes. AT the big tires no. Don't expect more than 150hp at the tires.

You can beat 150 hp at the rear wheels with forced induction.

The stock cam will die around 3200. An aftermarket cam would push me over that 8 hp mark with just RPM's.

4 main crank is not gonna hold up to any kind of RPM.

and with the stroke of a F your piston speed is just too high for the size of the pistons at any kind of RPM.

Yer polishing a turd.

Build a 1FZ or 2UZ if you have to have a yota motor. Way more potential with way more reliability.

Hell just drop a stock 1FZ in and get more than 200 HP and crazy reliability.

I can affirm that it damn sure pulls a TBI 350 hard on the strap........

No dyno numbers, but by comparing 80-120 km times (torque convertor locked up in 3rd) my 62 got a boost of ~35% at the rear wheels going from the old but strong 3FE to the 2FE I built (with cam, porting and coatings).

2f piston speed is 102mm x 5000 RPM = 3346.5 feet per minute.

That's almost the same as a Ferrari Enzo at 7000 rpm. 7/8s of redline.

That's a fast piston speed for a piston that big and heavy with very poor crankshaft support.

All I did was bolt on a turbo on a tired old 2F, nothing fancy at all. Even paying someone to make a turbo fit would be cheaper than paying someone to do a 350 conversion in a LC.

If you can do the work yourself, the turbo work would still be cheaper than dumping a 350 in to a LC.

Now, if you want more than 200hp, the V8 has a lot more room for big numbers..

I have hit 4k many many many times and 5k a couple of times on a 100% bone stock 2F

Would be fun to turbo my truggy, and the propane would make it easy. gotta do something bout that rear end first tho.

custom ground cam, megasquirt, and custom intake is going to be on the cheap?

What kind of budget are you thinking for this 200hp monster?
