So what you are saying is that there is still a significant amount of power that you can get out of this thing? Sweet! Believe it or not I may have just had a 3fe head, intake, and exhaust land in my lap for next to nothing. I am still sticking with the 2f head for now, but I now have a future project... top you with a super charger...
The engine was built for 15psi but we are only running 9psi so plenty left on tap if we really wanted to push it, I feel what we have is very drivable.
I settled for what I hoped was reliability so far it looks good with 12 months under my belt now and no major issues to speak of engine wise.

I just noticed this is the 3rd most viewed thread on MUD in the 40 section, I have to say I'm stunned and thanks to all those who have taken time to read it, it's a bit of an epic. I may have to do a write up some time to condense the information but I guess the comments are all part of the process.

Well finally my locker arrived after waiting for ARB as they have been out of stock for 3 weeks 
At least it gave Marin time to save up for it
New Long is ordered CV and Axle 30 spline.
So the to do list:
Fit rear diff (3rd)
Fit rear axles.
Fit rear tail shaft
Pull the seats out Clean and wash down the inside cab and re fit all the carpets and under felt/sound proofing. New drivers seat I think.
Pull out the front tail shaft, diff ratio 4.56 still in the front so until the CV and Axle arrives it can stay that way.
Fix the turbo manifold so it has no leeks again
Re paint rear quarters, re paint all the black. cut and polish.
Ready for the first rip of the year wooooohoooooo snow again.

That's the first diff I've ever seen photographed on carpet.
1st and last time too
Well I could not get a diff gasket anywhere till Monday so this weekend will see the diff going in.
Also in this week are the 2 collars I have had made to fix the exhaust leak. These will sit flush inside the 3FE headers and give a much better transition between the two systems. It also means the correct sized gaskets can be used rather than an over sized one trying to cope with 2 different sizes.
The issue is the 3FE headers were never designed for a flat gasket rather a compression ring that sat in in the large grove.
The problem was the area with nothing in it was bigger than the exhaust it was entering, so poor flow and a build up of heat, along with a poor fitting gasket as it was trying to cover both sides rather than fit one side well was always going to cause trouble.
With the collar in place a stock flat exhaust gasket of the correct size can now be used.
As you can see the fit is far better on the Turbo manifold with the flame ring clamping against the collar rather than before where the flame ring was inside the exhaust on one side.

I am working in Canterbury at the moment so it is no drama to drop it round after work.

Well have to say big thanks to Hann's for lending a hand today, the new diff was a not as user friendly to fit.
Infact it's a real step backwards in my opinion. Getting the copper air line in is hmmmm a $hit of a job and you can't guarantee it's not going to rub on anything.
The old copper line was all too easy and did not hinder fitting.
The new is very hard to get into the diff housing as it goes over the crown wheel and does not slide into the diff housing without having to push it under even while tipping the diff backwards. PITA of a job.
Infact in the position in the above photo it actually pushed into the crown wheel in place in the diff housing, yes easier to fit with it there but not going to last 10 seconds. Luckily I rotated the diff by hand and you could hear a clicking.
Took it all apart again and you could see a rub mark on the inside edge of the copper. Moving the line to a better place inside the diff so it will not rub means its a $hit of a job to get in.
My 2c anyway.
As for the turbo manifold, the new collars fit a treat, correct size gaskets fitted, all I am waiting on now is 4 new exhaust nuts to button it all up, they were due in yesterday but alas they did not arrive. But all back together and four stock bolts just holding it all in place for now.
