Hey all... I just picked up a 74 FJ55! It has a new carb on it, but could use a tune. I've been spoiled by 22RE's and my Tundra my whole life, so I don't have any experience with this.
Any tips? How do I start? How do I do a general tune up on the thing? The motor seems to get built up when I stab the peddal. It bogs and even back fires a little if I try to accelerate too quickly.
I also smell gas in the cab. Could that be from it running to rich? Or is that more of a fuel cell issue?
I'm lookin' forward to a mild buildup and trips up in the hills!
