Who's going to admit to spending $300 on a battery that it was a bad choice :)

I dunno, there were quite a few that weren't too shy about their DHP G31M issues.

I just replaced with the Toyota OEM battery which is a great battery and pretty cheap. Don't wait till It gets weak or dies your car Will start acting funny when the battery starts to fail just go ahead and get a new one

The $900 Panasonic battery? I assume the current OEM is another mfr. badged OEM.

"Toyota" OEM battery replacement, for my 2005 cost like $100 installed. Lexus dealer wanted $129 but that included cookies and a loaner car. Since it only would take the Toyota dealer 1 hour to fit me in I decided to save $29. But I did miss the cookies :(. Your right a Panasonic cost around $900 but no one tried to sell me one.

Hey, they should give you cookies regardless.

Can you even get the Panasonic over here?

This is an AGM group 34 battery (not sure the difference) but price seems reasonable to me:
Super Start Platinum 34RPLT - Battery | O'Reilly Auto Parts

  • Group Size (BCI): 34R
  • Cold Cranking Amps (CCA): 775 CCA
  • Cranking Amps (CA): 890 CA
  • Reserve Capacity (min): 120 Minute
  • Voltage (V): 12 Volt
  • Terminal Type: Top Post

Can someone give me advice I like my car battery to fire up immediately without ANY hesitation? I don't like the stock battery because of this.

1) Battery size chart:
BCI Battery Group Size Chart

2) Toyota battery specs for comparison

3) is the hesitation due to the battery or is it maybe loose/corroded connection(s), or worn starter contacts

Thanks for responding. Hesitation has been how it always starts for last 4-5 years, not like an immediate fireup like on my 200.

Is there a difference between the AGM battery and oem in terms of start time or is it just life of the battery. I do have an iForce 4.7L V8 motor not the stock LX. But both would take an extra half second to start when compared to newer cars.

What year is the 100 series? I'm sure the 200 has "1 touch start" that the early model 100 series did not have. (I think it was added ~2003.)

2002

I got some feedback that the super start battery wont work. Someone else tried in a 100 and it swoll up on him 3x. So its back to stock vs agm 27. It doesnt seem worth it to spend 3x as much to get 2x life?

That might be part of the issue then. My son has a 2000 LC. I have a 2006 LX. When I get in my son's vehicle, I have a tendency to turn the key to "start" and let go almost immediately, which doesn't work in his car. I've had the "1 touch start" in my last 3 Lexus/Toyota vehicles, and it takes a moment to "unlearn".

It depends on where you are when it fails. The other benefit of some of the AGM batteries is an extended full replacement warranty instead of the prorated replacement.

Any updated reports on these batteries? I am adding a fridge and I am considering this Northstar. I anticipate the fridge will be used a few times a year. Is this battery overkill if I drive the cruiser everyday when the fridge is hooked up?

It doesn't sound overkill at all. It's overall a great battery and despite another thread talking about problems with this battery I have yet to experience any. Maybe there have been issues for others but if so then those people have taken full advantage of the 5-year warranty and the great customer service that Batteries Plus has to offer. Hell 2wks ago my alternator failed and I looked down at my voltmeter at a red light and it was reading 8.6V. Immediately replaced the alternator and the battery didn't suffer any damage at all from being drained that low (granted batteries usually don't sustain damage until they dip below 3V but 8.6V can still diminish the amount of charge it holds). I'd say go for it and don't look back, you'll love it.

I get by without issue running our Edgestar using an Interstate 27F lead acid battery.
Interesting. Can you go 24hours without starting the vehicle? I killed my Interstate battery recently by listening to my radio with the engine off for an hour so I think I am due for a replacement. I think I am going to buy some type of power pack either way to carry when I have the fridge hooked up. The Interstate is a third of the price but I want to be sure I can go 24 hours without any issues.

I need a new battery also, my RC sucks now, if i leave the lights on or radio on for more than 10 minutes the truck won't start. Want to try AGM but might just get a cheap starting battery and then a nice deep cycle AGM as auxiliary battery.

BTW i thought AGMs were supposed to be lighter, feels the same to me, heavy as hell.
