So I just noticed in my new to me Troopy that the two brand new batteries put in before I bought the truck are not identical. It's a 24 volt truck. How much of a problem is this likely to be in the long term?

You probably won't notice a thing... at least until the one starts dying. One will always be charged less. If you store the troopy indoors and it is never parked outside below freezing, then it will last longer.

If it was me, I would replace the smaller one with a matching one for the larger one since they are new

I don't know your battery configuration. But, I don't think you can just substitute a Group 34 in place of the 24F. The terminal location is different and I'm guessing the PO did what they did because of terminal location and battery availability. Costco does not have a huge selection. I would just run it until they die and then go with more optimal solution. They could last many years as is.

Hello,

As mentioned above, one battery will get less charge and it will die. It might happen tomorrow; it might happen a couple years from now.

Two options.

Ditch the Group 24F battery and get another Group 34 battery.

Or ditch both batteries and get two identical deep cycle marine batteries, the biggest capacity with the size that fits your trays.

You are correct on all counts.
I'm going to sit on my hands, directly charge each battery fully once in a while and drive the damn truck!
