Our 2000 needs new front seat leather.
This truck has been good to us for the last 12 years and Id like to replace/repair with some nice quality not something thats gonna wear out in a year or two.

Do you guys have any recommendations or experiance?

I just got new seat bottoms from Ed at hot rod upholstery. Super responsive and great quality covers. He had them out to me in a couple weeks. Comes with the proper plastic clips and he sends a pack of hog rings for the install.

He has a video on how to install which I'll be doing this week. He has some other good reviews on the forum here as well.

What was the price?

I will be interested to see how those hold up. The LSeat covers in mine are de-laminating on the sides where they used synthetic leather. The PO installed them about 2 years ago. So I am wary of anything except real leather for all surfaces.

That was my biggest consideration. I don't enjoy upholstering enough to be doing it every few years. I looked at Lseats, Katzkins, etc and there were plenty of question marks on the side material, de-lamination etc. Not to mention customer service issues.

After talking to Ed at Hot Rod/Wolfmans, he uses real leather and I am confident they will hold up very well. He's a small business doing custom upholstery the last 40 plus years and uses high quality materials. I'll post a few pictures once they're installed.

good to know. I'd like to give Wolfmans my business for this go-round. I've been on the fence about the Lseat replacements as well, and this looks like a good alternative, but I need the upper portion as well and I'm not seeing them listed on the site as an option.

As an aside, is there a difference between the LC and LX seats? I ask because they're showing the LX driver's bottom as being backordered, but the LC is available, and listed at like $100 less...

I can't remember if he said he offers the uppers. Best to give him a call. I would think the only thing limiting him would be if he didn't have the pattern or a truck on site.

Difference on LC vs LX I'm not sure. I believe the LX had a different appearance/pleating on the interior panels. Maybe slightly different leather color? Again - just call him and see what he says. Please post up his response if you end up speaking with him. I'll post up a few pics of the covers this evening.

Wolfmans' website description says "Material Genuine Leather ,with synthetic leather side trim" which is why I mentioned it. That is the same as my LSeats covers.

Good catch! I guess we'll see how they do. Are there different grades of synthetic leather? I don't know much about upholstery materials.

With my kiddos and dog they'll get a proper test at least ha. Ed seemed confident enough in the materials regarding longevity.

I like that armrest! Are those the 80 series ones? If so, did it fit without too much fuss?

Another vote for Leatherseats.com. Just have 5 months on mine, but they've been holding up really well and are very supple/comfortable. USA-sewn is a plus, and the DIY install was not too bad. The horror stories on LSeat and on Ridies customer service led me to them.

Wow looks even better than stock!

Those are the 200 series version. Almost an exact fit, I was very pleasantly surprised as this was a total "roll of the dice" experiment for me. Caveat: they come in black only.

Folks, for those of you considering replacing the leather in your stock seats, I will STRONGLY recommend replacing the factory foam -especially the bottom seat of the driver side- at the same time, it was the single biggest improvement I've made to the driver experience. It is NOT cheap, but if you're going to replace leather, now's the time to do it and get another 15-20 years out of it.

I did the DS seat bottom foam (aftermarket). None of the other foam was available new at a reasonable price, at least for a GX. I did steam all of the foam, which made it puffier.

In hindsight, I would have added ~1/2" of new foam over the side bolsters on the DS seat and possibly the PS seat too. You can see on mine that it was a bit compressed due to 16 years of use so the seat cover is just a bit saggy. The new foam would have made it a bit more plush and filled out the seat covers (which were, as far as I could tell, exactly the same dimensions as the OEM covers).

Wrapped up the seat bottoms with the new covers. Good fit and finish. I steamed the old foam. Passenger seat had some foam already added on the bolsters. Driver seat foam bottom puffed right back and softened nicely with several passes of the steamer.

Color seems a bit lighter than OEM but I need to give the uppers a good cleaning which should help things.
