Another Automotive press release. Not sure if the footage they briefly show is an actual 24'? Anyone with a 300 have a drone to stare and compare LOL? Maybe this should be placed in the GX section... Certainly not a shocker but rules out a 70 series if real footage.

Vertical grille says Prado....

That’s the current Land Cruiser Prado Aka lexus GX Aka 4 runner. Offered as the Prado in many countries. I believe that is the truck due for a resign in 23/24.

Love the “ still built in Japan“ Jab. At least for those of us that still care.

Toyota jabbing itself? Tundra, Tacoma, Sequoia not made in Japan
Some people think Japan made trucks are of higher build quality and other intangibles. Not Toyota press release but some YouTube vid.

These videos are about as informative as an infomercial on the Shopping Network at 3am.

I’m glad to be on the list at the dealer to get a supposed “launch” edition. Good find!

Lol.
I picked up a sequoia today for my family hauling, and IT IS NOT anywhere close to LX600 from drive, feel, interior, exterior POV. Don’t even try to compare the two. It is super nice for what it is.

2 cent from a real owner of both vehicles vs. reading the articles, theories. Pic below

Is the rear storage as bad as it looks in the pics and videos? Do you think you could fit 4 large suitcases in the back? Thanks.

A 2.4 inline 4 cylinder turbo hybrid. In a Land Cruiser. Is this possible? Sounds like a turd but if you look at the RX 500H already released, this is possible....
366HP/ 406 torque combined. Assuming they would bump this up in a nearly estimated 500lb heavier SUV. A really interesting twist is a separate rear driven E-axle. No more transfer case? They were pitching this direct 4 concept back in 2020. Not a lot of detail on this out there right now.

TFL is reasonably reliable, but they've been way off with the Tacoma and 4R speculation, so I'm not sure I'd put a ton of faith in the LC news. Seems like a return of the land cruiser nameplate has to be either a LC300 variant or Prado variant. But neither really make a ton of sense. LC300 in luxury trim for LX600 comparable price is an obvious non-starter. We know that doesn't work very well. Possibly in GX-ish trim to fit between the 4R and Sequoia? Seems at least a bit more logical than selling a Prado and 4Runner side by side. OTOH - the BZ4X, Rav4, NX, Venza, Highlander, and RX all exist, and and they're all very slight variations on the same vehicle. So it wouldn't be out of character for either situation to happen.

Seems a lot more likely that an LX750 version of a sequoia would be built before a LC300 hits USA toyota dealerships. That's the biggest hole in Toyota's lineup across its brands.

Nothing in the production schedule seems to suggest an all new model, but I'm not an expert on whether Toyota would publish that yet if it were keeping it under wraps. And I can't directly verify the accuracy of this, but it's supposedly from the supplier info from Toyota.

Interesting. They are already showing LC300 production at Tahara when it's not manufactured there yet with no plans to expand to another line at Tahara. Tahara is already at capacity.

How old is this document?

Supposedly June of 22 and is a forecast for suppliers, but maybe not directly from Toyota? I'm not sure what Toyota actually publishes outside of it's monthly production line adjustments. I assume Toyota gives very accurate info to suppliers when it contracts for parts deliveries. But this may be good enough to look legitimate but also garbage info.

It really doesn't matter when/if one shows up back in the US if it does not have solid axles at both ends. :meh:

We've been without a real Land Cruiser for a quarter century. I'm running out of time. :frown:

Maybe all this is as simple as Toyota just sending the 76 over here. That would avoid any overlap with the sequoia, lx, GX, and 4runner. It lines up with the “boxy, stripped down, pure off roader” rumor thats been floating around. It’s also a land cruiser in the purest sense, so it’d make people shut up about that too. Just a thought.
