I found this earlier but was hoping it was inaccurate. Photo definitely is dated. Based on the leather colors corresponding to Toyota's announcement and Onyx Blue/ Brandywine Mica matching GX-R's information, these may be our options.

Hope it's wrong cc1999 - No Super White for you if that's the case. Thoughts on the Brandywine? Definitely less brown and more "red wine" than I would prefer.

I was liking the copper as an alternate color choice, that is if White was not offered again, at least when I thought it was copper.

I think GX-R is 100% correct those Toyota pic's are way off. I was looking at the same pic posted earlier of the Copper looking Cruiser blasting around on a sand dune. It sure looked copper in that pic. It is defiantly red in that old Lexus pic, and in you Autobytel link they call it red.

I really hope Autobytel was just posting last years colors or something. If not and no Super white again for the US is a bummer, I may have to fall back on the silver with black interior as my alternate, if that is the case, I may also just wait till my current LCs are higher in mileage before I make any changes, I really like my Super white LCs. Even though I really like this new 16 model, the lack of super white again for the US market, is without any doubt lowering my excitement level for wanting to run out and buy a 16.

I must say the new LC is really nice .... Hold me back ...

Heck if the 2019-20 300 should go the unibody direction like so many of the competitors are doing, I would rather have one of these 2016-18s 200s over a possible unibody 300 any day. I have tried several unibody SUVs, still not a fan. Not that Toyota is going that way with the 300, just would not surprise me if they did, since so much of the competition is doing it.

Amazon Green was the first good Toyota green since the 1990 4Runner.

You have a link or pictures to the 5.7 swap? To date I have not seen one swap. Slee won't even attempt it because Toyota has the PCM on lock down plus all the sensor that need imput to make it run. Plus the physical size of the DOHC V8 is rather large and doesn't fit between the wheel wells very well.

You are right. I asked my friend who I thought swapped a 5.7 L from a 100 series and, he told me the same thing. He put some different engine inside. I´m sorry for the confusion.

Now that we know what the 2016 LC and LX look like, I wonder how many years and how many miles each one of them will last! Personally, my bet for the both of them (worst case scenero in New England's mild winters) is 10 years tops with around 200,000!

At least the wiring is not made of biodigradeable materials like the Mercedes S-Class (91-96!)

Interesting that Toyota is introducing the Aisin 8speed. That means they are getting seriously ready for CAFE 2017 regulations to go into effect.

Making the transmission move now gives Toyota a few years of real world results.


The fact that Toyota introduced their first ever 8speed Aisin auto in the LC again shows the importance of the LC for Toyota... Not necessarily the U.S. market, but the LC in general.

I do forsee a hybrid LC with an 8-10speed transmission for the 300 in 2017-2018 time frame.

That would make serious sense..... At least for the developed markets.

The 4.5L diesel in its various iterations will continue for many years outside of developed markets including Oceania as well as the NGO market. That engine is going to eventually become the 1HZ long term world market diesel once Toyota basically retires the 1HZ in the next few years.

1HZ is now the longest running engine variant Toyota has ever manufactured.... In its purest form. F/2F/3F engine variants always changed.

Only real change in the 1HZhas been the timing belt tensioning system.

The whole CAFE regulations deal also has a little known side deal known as carbon credits. Basically if a companany such as Toyota sells a large number of cars exceeding cafe requirements (THINK ELECTRIC & HYBRID) they earn these credits, that they can one chose to sell to other auto mfg or can be to used to offset vehicles they sell that fall short of the requirements. I think that is why Toyota as a whole has been slower to react to the CAFE regs where trucks and SUVs are concerned, since they are one of the only mfg with a real high volume of sales in those electric driven models, earning them an abundance of these carbon credits.

Basically I don't think Toyota is going to really be all that motivated in terms of design of the the 300 to cater to the us CAFE rules, they sell less then 10,000 units in the US, and those rules would likely hinder the high volume sales in the rest of the world. I think Toyota will just simply use some of there credits from a few Prius sales to offset a small number of Land Cruiser sales.

For those reasons I don't think there will ever be a Land Cruiser designed specifically for the US market, if we did have one the real one would be sold to the rest of the world and a Highlander just got renamed Land Cruiser.

The other alteranatives are to stop importing them to the US, pay fines prebuilt into the prices, should they not have excess carbon credits.
