May need to switch up from IPA's to Coors light in that kinda heat

Ouch- and some wanted to camp- ha!

Let's all check our coolant and batteries before the trip. It's going to make Ouray that much more awesome with the cool mountain air.

I won't be there with y'all this year, but I can't wait to read the posts and see tons of pictures. It's great to read on the forum, participate, and learn all kinds of great detail about these rigs.

It's getting close! Ok, I was thinking about the trip this weekend- and downloading GPX files so that we have the trails mapped for Ouray and Moab (I'm sure we would be fine with just the book, but like to know were we are). There are many, many trails. So I thought we should narrow those down a bit.

Here's my logic: I looked at all the trails they do at Cruise Moab (this was the base- may not be a good assumption), took out the ones that are difficult (higher than 6), a long distance, overnight, or sure to create damage and came up with a short list...(9 trails) then Googled the most popular, scenic trails for 4x4 in Moab and cross referenced them to that list and narrowed that down to 5 (Ones with **).

This is just to get us a head start if we are going to decide on the trails over dinner the night before (I'd recommend we do it earlier). Again, I'm not in charge or trying to push us one way or the other on any trail- just needed to narrow them down a bit to have trails on my IPAD.

Again, i have not done any trails in Moab, so this is just excel data... (Google Drive Shared). What do ya'll think?

I also can put the GPX files in this folder if others want them after we narrow down a bit.

The contact list is now posted in this link below: (If posting this info is an issue, then everyone will need to send me their email so I can make it private for only those with email....or download it and I can delete it.)

All indications are pointed for me to roll into town / moab around Monday afternoon - Chuck (my father in law) is recovering well and my wife has given me the green light to GTF outta town!!!!
thanks for the well wishes - so pumped now! I'm bolting on my awning tonight and I'm finally going to use that damn thing in the desert even if its just for some shade during lunch.

@BTUMAN - will you please bring your antenna tuner? I have yet to purchase one and figured I could buy you a beer and talk you into helping me out

I have a tuner I can bring. Attempted to fix mine up but could use an expert to double check it.

Good to see all is looking better for you. See you at dinner. We'll be rolling in about the same time.

Thanks man

Yes. I'll put it in my drawers. No problem. Should only take 15 min or so.

Meanwhile - in Santa Rosa, NM (Moab or Bust). About 800 miles done.

You can also upload GPX files to IH8MUD :)

Suggestions:

Fins and Things one morning, Hells Revenge in the afternoon. You'll need to keep moving to do both in a day, but that is a fee area so may as well burn them off in one day. Lunch at Milts :) (believe they are closed Mondays...) Don't forget Baby Lions Back too.

Kane Creek will be pinstripes. Unavoidable in a rig as large as the 200-series. Lots of tight areas as you wander around and through the creek. I was well challenged in a couple spots with my BJ74 due to off camber sections.

Poison Spider is a great trail, and will be in the 5-6 hour range. Slow moving, but great scenery and obstacles.

I haven't done Dome in many years...too many to remember :)

If the Top of the World makes the cut, I strongly suggest sliders. Also, don't do the full lollipop, take the main route up and return the same way. The backside has lots of drops and rough sections. Stop by the winery on your return trip (we do!)

Sevenmile would be another great day run...has been a few years, but there are some nice sidehills sections, sand washes, and other fun areas to play with.

Really, unless you are in full on rally mode or driving a UTV, the trails in Moab are 4+ hours regardless...running the triple (Poison Spider thru to Gemini) can take 12-14 hours with trucks.

Thank you for the heads up and tips. Good man
