Stock Dunlop Tires good enough for mild Moab? (1 Viewer)

Hello,

Going to Moab with my 100% stock 200 in May. Still has the stock dunlops! My wife is coming with me for the first time so I was just hoping to do an easy trail, like chicken corners.

Anyone have any experience with these tires in Moab? I can also swap’em out but I kind of want to get more miles out of them.

For her most part Moab is super grippy like sandpaper. Tires, although the most important factor off road, will not limit you on the east trails. It has been a while since I’ve been there but from what I can remember you could see Subarus, rav4 and AWD vans on the easier stuff.

While I've always run AT/MT tires at Moab, I've had this nagging suspicion that highway tread would be just as good or maybe better.

Sidewall would be a bigger concern personally. Chicken corners is tame but there are sharp ledges and some chunky baseball sized rocks etc on the trail.

Yes, stock tires will do it. As tbisaacs mentions above, sidewall slashes would be the only real concern for the simpler trails you intend to drive (slick rock). Air down sufficiently (15-20 psi) and take it easy while watching for the sharp rocks/edges. Available traction on sandstone is INCREDIBLE.
