There is a lot of information about the PX6 head unit, but my factory head unit initially started flickering and eventually stopped booting altogether. I tried to fix it at a local repair shop, but the power module alone would cost $1500 to replace. Instead of spending that much on repairs, I decided to upgrade to a “Tesla”-style head unit. Will update the thread with more information as I progress with the install.

Why Upgrade?
My initial research led me to the PX6 head unit with Sergey Custom ROM, which is an amazing ROM, but the hardware itself is outdated. Since I wanted a more modern solution, I went ahead with the Phoenix Automotive G6 Octa-Core.

This unit is essentially the same as the one available at:

The model number is 1806GE

For reference, here is the Google Drive link to confirm compatibility with the North American Toyota Land Cruiser LC200:

I have the older version. Has worked great since I installed it in 2019, but lacks a few features like android auto and allowing to use my phone as a hot spot source.

It is one of the best mods I made. I can get real clear GPS tracking using Gaia, have my music collection loaded to play, can play videos. I can surf the internet if wifi is available (doesnt use phone though as hot spot)

Have been debating this same unit as an upgrade. Will be interested to see how it works for you

OEM Camera does not work with this unit. Thats a bummer. Sound is crappy compared to factory stereo.

Camera won’t work due to some compatibility issue or you haven’t figured out how to make it work yet?

It’s probably better anyway to replace the ORM low res cameras anyway.

Hey @Romer, I have the same PX6 as you and use my phone as a hot spot all the time. It’s an iPhone, but that shouldn’t matter. The only thing it won’t do is auto connect to my phone as a hot spot, I have to manually connect it every time o start the truck.

I will have to give that a try

I had to get an adapter box on mine for the camera to work.

Is thee sound glitchy or just not as good?

Does Carplay or Android Auto work well?

The camera integration is a bit complicated. Here's some hints that should help get it working

Sound is not as great as the factory sound. Not glitchy. Just you don't get the purity of music. Good thing is the sub turns on. I have read somewhere the optical port might yield better sound. I'll have to test it out. I got Android13 eventhough the advertised version is Android 11. Will update about Android Auto

Sometimes I have to shut off the hot spot on my phone and then turn it back on after the HU boots up. Then search for WiFi networks on the Android unit to connect to the phone. I also only connect my phone via Bluetooth and never the usb cable. A bit of a PITA but I really only want internet when on a road trip or long drive.

How about Android Auto?

On my older unit it wouldnt connect the cameras either and EC Offroad sent me an adapter box that worked perfectly

so you are saying GPS and Android Auto don't work?

Updated. GPS works. Android Auto still not working. I'll raise a support request with this list. The support person was supportive in trying to get the camera working.

Any updates?

You got it from Phoenix and its an Android 13 even though it says 11 on their website?

I called Phoenix Auto to ask about the wireless Android Auot and they said wireless is only Carplay, but Android Auto works with a USB Cable. Have you tried that?

It did not work. I couldn't work on it for some time. Tried different cables. I might need to contact helpdesk for it.
