Just an update since I’ve had this for some time now. Start up, idol, acceleration all sound great. BUT the droan at 1700 rpm and between 70 and 75 mph absolutely sucks. I’m probably going to start looking at other options because the last 2 hr trip was terrible. Love the way it sounds but i don’t think I can deal with the droaning. @UnFadeable21, I have no clue how you achieved no highway Droan.

My wisest move is always to delay mods.
Can anyone comment wether or not a resonator chop alone drones?
I forgot to update as well, I was excited by this thread so bought all the same parts and had a shop install it, truck sounded epic right off the bat. Drove home, turned right back around and had them rip it all out and put the stock system back. The freeway drone was APPALLING. It literally gave me a headache within a minute of driving. The whole interior vibrated with the BWAAAAAAAAH any time you weren’t coasting. My wife would have murdered me if I came back with the truck sounding like that. This guy and I must wildly different ideas on what constitutes drone!

Yeah waiting for other folks to do stuff first is always the wise way to go. Don’t make this mistake!
For removing just the resonator though, when I had the factory system reinstalled I had the shop leave of the rear resonator off and tuck the pipe high and tight just to get a bit better departure angle (I had previously dented it on a rock), and as someone very sensitive to drone, I genuinely can’t tell that it’s not there, truck sounds identical. It’s very cheap and easy to test, just chop the pipe right before the resonator and take it off, drive around, if if you notice any difference, they can just weld it right back where they cut it.
Wow Im still going strong with the setup. I love it. No issues with 1000 mile road trips or just daily drives. I did rip the aftermarket intakes out. Now that got annoying quick. Put the stock back on. I am still curious on the dirty deeds set up though?

I love the way it sounds too but 75 mph @ 1700 rpm is terrible. I’m just to lazy to change it right now

I just shot a video this morning going 70 mph at the same RPM’s. I have literally zero drone. Just regular highway road noise. Will post up video

For the ones having the drone issues what transmission do you have. I have a 08 so I have the 6-speed. Wondering if the 8-speed makes a difference if any?

I have an 11.
It seems the simple solution is to put in 4.88s
Then your freeway rpm is a bit higher at this speed and no drone. The drone would move into the mid 60s.

So I am no NVH or acoustics expert, but the runs into the muffler for both @UnFadeable21 and @bentonrover are much longer than @Sinister 's. Looks like @Sinister 's is between 6 and 8 inches farther forward in the exhaust stream which could have a significant impact on exhaust flow turbulence into the muffler and subsequent drone. Just an observation. I'm curious if anyone else has thoughts on this? I ordered all this stuff back in February and finally had it show up to my APO... I'm debating whether to go forward with this now.

Good eye!!! I would love to know if that could be the problem. I don’t wanna get rid of because I love the sound.
