This has me wondering if they changed something about how or where they are produced.

What am I missing here? Wouldn't they be on as DRLs every day (that you drive that truck)? Why have I had such bad luck with mine?

My DRLs were disabled before I left the dealer lot I purchased my rig from.

I turned my DRL's off a long time ago, and my 9011's are still going strong. Can't say that cause and effect, or just a coincidence; but it wouldn't hurt bulb life to turn off the DRL's.

As a note, I run with my parking lights on all the time. Better for visibility than DRL's because the taillights are also lit when the parking lights are on (whereas they are off when just the DRL's are on) - better visibility for those following.

HTH

Has anyone had 9011s burn out without DRL use?

Trying to replace my low beams with HID. Previous owner put in some bad LEDs. I worked for 3 hrs today and am still stuck. I can’t get the wire/metal clamp to fit around the HIS bulb and lock it into place. I ordered the Toshiba OEM bulb like others have linked in this thread. I’m starting to wonder if maybe this isn’t the OEM clip or something is wrong with the bulb. Maybe it isn’t seating into the socket properly, therefore there isn’t enough space for the clip to slide into the grooves?

Pics below. First is how I think the clips are supposed to lock in. Second is clean with nothing in. Third and fourth show where the clips don’t get all the way in place to be secure.

Appreciate any help.

I haven’t taken mine apart to compare, but from the first two pics it almost looks like there is some kind of adapter inserted where the bulb should go.. maybe see if that pulls out and allows the bulb to seat correctly?

Thanks, that’s a great thought. I’ll check to see if it’ll come out tomorrow. If anyone has taken their’s apart and knows or maybe has a picture, please LMK!

You need to remove that led adapter thats in place of where HID bulb is supposed to go. Here's what it should look like before hid bulbs is inserted.
