I’m getting mixed messages on whether it is the starter or starter solenoid that is the potential failure point.
Almost always the starter solenoid. The problem is the starter has to be removed to change it, so most people just throw a whole new starter in, as the job is so involved. I personally just did the solenoid, as I preferred to stay with the original larger starter motor, vs the new model which is smaller.

Also already having the radiator job in progress does not save any work for the starter job.

I'm going to order one as well.. thank you for the link!!

Radiator
Radiator Hoses/clamps
Water pump
New T-stat

Anything else I'm missing that you guys recommend? Water pump gasket maybe? Other small parts I'm overlooking?

Really appreciated!

I ordered the water pump and t-stat from Rock Auto (Aisin) - the water pump comes with the gasket.

Idler pulley and fan bracket.

EDIT: May as well do the serpentine belt if you're running on the original. Cheap insurance.

Serra Toyota of Decatur is the place to buy the radiator (and at unbeatable prices). I received the radiator today, and it was wrapped as if it came from an art dealer. The radiator is surrounded by packing material in the OEM box. They then placed the OEM box inside another shipping box and surrounded it with high-quality packing materials. Couldn't be happier. Buy with confidence.

@mitdrx

Got my parts ordered! Thanks again for posting the sale/link..

Fingers crossed the radiator shows up in good shape. Sounds like it will from those guys.

Last day for anyone needing factory parts!

I've got a 2010 with 200k miles. Some service history on my truck is missing and I'm wondering if what I've got is the new radiator. I'm seeing mixed messages here...

Can anyone chime in? Thanks in advance!

We need to see the shape of the label boss on the tank, more than the numbers on the tag.

Can you get another pic zoomed out a bit?

How's this?

Looks a 2016 model. I replaced my radiator in 2018 and has a 81 as the last two digits.

Your radiator has definitely been replaced (early trucks didn’t have that sticker, only a stamping on the plastic), and that is the older style. Either way probably good for 8+ years and 120k+ miles. It’s not currently showing any signs of stress/fatigue.

That's great news! Thanks so much for weighing in.

Just checking in with a 2010 LX570, 156K miles. (Mainly Costco parking lots, which maybe are kind to radiators...) View attachment 3905511
I’d suggest wiping the armor-all or whatever the seemingly oily stuff is off and confirming.

Either way nothing obvious.. at that mileage yours is one of the better stock radiators apparently.

Yeah, I had just cleaned it off and hadn't let it dry fully. I need to keep checking periodically. Seems like it's not if, but when...

impressive! mine is at 120k but i can start to see the faint lines of the infamous crack. is yours original?
Original radiator, yes. Or at least the copious records from the first owner (I bought at 120k) doesn't mention it. I do wonder though if there are more original radiators than we think without big problems. Few people without a problem would come here, let alone check. Enthusiasts amplify stuff like this, for good reason. Regardless, I fully expect an issue at some point, even after using the truck primarily to get lots of Kirkland Signature stuff.

Stumbled across this thread and sitting at about 106k miles in my 2017 and leave in a month for a ~4k mile road trip from Houston to SW Colorado and then onto Wyoming and back to Texas. Do not see any signs of leaking but was hoping someone could help identify if this is an updated radiator so I can decide if I should proactively change it before we leave to avoid any issues on the passes. Thank you in advance!

That is not the latest design and there is zero reason to proactively replace that radiator in my opinion. There’s no evidence to suggest the stamping area is in anyway compromised based on that photo. Save the expense and fill your gas tank for your trip!

I agree completely.
