The difference in sound, to me, of Duratrac vs. stock Dunlop, is that you simply hear the Duratracs, whereas the Dunlop tires were car like tires that made no sound.
The sound the Duratracs make is not obnoxious, annoying or loud. It just a solid hum with a frequency the goes up and down with RPM.
I went through 2 sets Duratracs on my Raptor and really liked them.
I am running the 285/70/17 on Rock Warriors.

Congratulations on the new Cruiser! I also just bought a new (to me) 2014 200 last week. It's being shipped to Colorado right now and should be here early next week. The first thing I'll do is have all terrain tires installed and would like to go as big as the stock wheels/suspension will allow for increased ground clearance. I'm currently thinking BFG AT KO2's in the 275/70r18 size. They are about $200 cheaper for a set of 5 than the 285/65r18's and would net a tiny bit more ground clearance, too.

This combo isn't documented in the tire/wheel database, so if anyone has any knowledge about this specific setup please chime in!

Hi,

I have fitted the 275/70r18 on stock rims with 60 offset. No lift. It is really good, no rub what so ever..

Question about 285/65/18 vs. 275/70/18.
I've looked the database and all I want to know is if going to the 275/70/18 is a noticeable difference in performance compared to the 285/65/18?
Rock on!

Hey kd5kuu,

Just wondering if you ever pulled the trigger on the 275/70/18's BFG AT KO2's???

I was going to do the exact same thing as you were suggesting.

I know others have installed this size tire with minor rubbing issues, but I can't find someone who has done it with the KO2's.

Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

Your rig looks awesome!!!

I take it since your in Norway your LC probably has the front leveling spacer installed stock from the factory. The front spacer another small project for those USA owner's trying to get the global, worldly look for our LC's... Thanks for the pictures.

I have the following:
2017 TLC
BFG TA KO2's
285 65 18
stock wheels
0" lift (stock suspension)
tire pressure 42 (all the way around) - I emailed BFG and they said for my vehicle if I set it to 50 psi it would support in excess the load capacity set by Toyota
fits in spare tire location without any modification
no spacer
no rubbing

@slowride - Haven't done it yet due to a minor hiccup with the TPMS sensors. Apparently the dealer I bought my Land Cruiser from failed to mention that there are no sensors installed in the OEM wheels even after my questioning about the TPMS indicator being lit. Dealer stated they aired up the tires and the light went off. PO must have had a second set of wheels, attempting to work with the dealer to correct the situation as this is a piece of safety equipment that is federally mandated. I don't think they have any legal obligation to do anything but I'm trying.

Awesome Database. Thanks for making it! It is great members like you that make this such a great site. I hope I can help.

I thought I would take the opportunity to share some info for the LX crowd. When choosing a tire I believe LX owners should refer to the database's LC stock suspension (zero lift). There is only one LX listed and It is different than my set-up. I thought it would be nice to see a different LX idea and help somebody "be sure" about the tires they are considering. Again, I think any of the stock suspension LC sizes listed in the database will fit. I know I was worried about what size tire would fit with the AHC at all heights.

I wanted the biggest tire possible to fill the wheel well and I wanted a provocative (wider) stance. The tire had to be functional off pavement as well as on it. This truck is also my daily driver.

I chose Nitto Terra Grappler G2 285/60 R18. Rims: XDSeries - Addict with +18 offset.

I am EXTREMELY happy. I do not have a road noise issue. Handling is great on and off road. These wheels are flush with the fender and do not stick out beyond it. No rubbing encountered in any of the AHC positions. The first 2 pictures show the wheels with the truck in the highest AHC position. The last 2 pictures show the wheels while the truck is in the lowest position.

Hi All,

Very informative discussion here!

Have a 2016 VX LC 200 in Papua New Guinea and larger diameter rims and tyres are hard to come by so I'm looking at shipping some from Australia.

The suppliers that I have come across list 20x9 rims with +25 to +35 offset but only recommend 285/50R20 tyres. I was wondering if 285/55R20 tyres would fit with stock suspension and if not, would 275/55R2)?

Don't do any offroading, just wanting to fill the guards out a bit more and I couldn't see anyone on the spreadsheet with a similar setup.

Appreciate your feedback.

Cheers,
Shannon

So here is my 2008 supercharged 200. 3" lift, coilovers, etc....

So i had to go with 20" fuel wheels due to the huge 8 piston brakes i put on...not quite happy having to go to a 20" wheel. That said i bought the fuel 35x12.50 MT tires. These were the WORST tires i have ever owned in my life. There is zero traction in the snow, minimal in mud and the wear is horrendous. I got rid of them after about 4k miles and went to Toyo Open Country MTs 295/65/20 and they are night and day different. i did have to trim a bit of the mudflaps but overall they seem to fit....barely. i might need to bring the front end up a tad. Might actually go back to stock brakes and go with 18" wheels

basically what I'm saying DO NOT BUY FUEL TIRES

how do you like the TRD brake kit on the cruiser?
I added stock tundra brakes and it helped, but big heavy 20s and 35s are a pain to slow down. it does great if you put your foot into it, but is definitely not a linear progression of slowing/stopping force.
once I went to the 20s I wondered if the TRD brake kit would be worth it.

those aren't TRD. I cant remember the brand but they have 8 pistons in the front and 6 in the back, with drilled and slotted rotors. I think they are from Japan. The shop that put them on etched the TRD in them, but they're definitely much bigger than the TRD. These stop on a dime and feel solid.

Is this database still being updated?

If so, I need to update my stats...

@MScruiser... ?

I've not updated it in a LOOONG time.

Gee those BFGs look good! Are those rims +45 or +60? Would you see any issues with going +25 rims?

OEM rim's. These BFG AT/KO2's in the 285/55/20 size have a wide thread width 10.1 inches, where the 275/55/20's have a 9.6" wide tread width and the 305/55/20's have a 10.2 but will not fit with out mod's. I wanted wider with heavy tread 15/32" for AT performance and still have good on road performance compared to the Dunlops with no tread.

I have updated the OP with a link to the newly designed database. Thank you @DirtNap for the work you did putting it together!

Thanks for doing this, @MScruiser! It reminded me that I never provided my specs so here you go.

First, you can copy pretty much any row that has 285/65R18 KO2s on stock wheels. No rubbing, etc. 42/42 PSI. The only real difference from stock is the 2" lift. (ARB OME 2700 and 2721 w/ OME UCAs). Love the ride. Noise not an issue - meaning I don't notice anything.
