100 in Moab today. Vs hanging out in a snow bank….
We love going to Moab but have only been able to camp once. Either wind, temps, or both just defeated us on multiple attempts. We’ve just accepted the fact that cashing in hotel points for the Hoodoo Hilton is the best option.

We're currently at a Sun outdoors campground north of Arches with water, sewer, and power.

We're headed to Devils Garden campground tomorrow for 6 nights of boondocking.

Before we leave for Devils Garden we'll tank up on water. However we may not last for the whole 6 night reservation due to the heat.

Get those hikes in early, get started before the sun comes up if at all possible.

This was 5:58 am. We shared Delicate Arch with about 15 people. On the hike back to the car at 7 we passed 100 people. Arches is hard to beat when enjoyed before 8 am.

The locals are saying arches should be cooler than our current campground but they're also saying it's unusually hot just now.

Oh well we're headed to Arches tomorrow morning.

Some of our best trip memories are those looking back at some type of hardship we all endured together. A couple of those have been some epic camp fails around Moab. We were dispersed camping tho… with hookups, yall will be fine. A good nights sleep with some AC will be a major advantage.

Grab a milkshake and burger at Milt’s while yall are there.

Last time we went there in June it was mid-nineties and the smart hikers had those little fans that spray water mist through the blades. Someone lent me hers, and I came close to not giving it back. I do not recommend flip flops like we saw on a few young novices. And early morning is the best, especially for parking. Stay cool

This! I remember tent camping at Oregon Inlet south of Nags Head NC when a super thunderstorm cell came through with rain and lightning that fried my cell phone and knocked out large motorhomes. I think the campground took a direct hit. It was after that we got our trailer. It's all aluminum so it's likely both a faraday shield of sorts and a lightning rod. 😵‍💫

Anyway, here we are at Arches campground trying to stay cool and plotting what to do next:
