Damn that looks real good!!! Did you do it yourself?

Thanks Ken!
No. I didn’t do it myself. It’s actually quite a trick to do the complicated roofline on our rigs. One massive piece...computer cut to fit. Hood maybe not so bad, but no way I was gonna do the roof.

Also...with paint problems on the roof, it had to be smoothed our first. Was a ton of work/time including rack removal & reinstall.

Poor guy (and partly multiple guys) spent like a day and a half on it! Lots of ridges, bumps, sunroof, pillars up there.

Thanks @Canyonero for the awesome shirt for Zoey!!!

any good camping recommendations? I live in Phoenix, moved to AZ a year ago and haven't been camping yet. Looking for something not too remote as i got 3 little ones with me. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Your best bet is to head up to the Rim Road (FR 300) on the Mogollon Rim. It's a 45ish mile forest road that arcs from the 260 east of Payson to the 87 north of Strawberry, Pine, and eventually back to Payson. Woods Canyon Lake is very close to the 260 and is a very popular place for families. Knoll Lake is about midway on the road and is a very nice well-maintained campground. Bear Canyon Lake between them used to be awesome as a wilder dispersed camp ground, but they logged it clear so now it's bare and shadeless.

There is a real nice little camp spot called Keihl Meadow on the west side off of 87. That side of the Rim Road is much rougher than the 260 side.

That said, the rim is covered with forest roads and dispersed camping is allowed in most areas.

The picture I posted is up on the Senator Hwy between Crown King and Prescott. The road to Crown King is 27 miles of dirt switchbacks up into the mountains. It's an easy and fun drive, but there are LOTS of side-by-sides and dirt bikes to watch out for. The Senator Hwy, however, is probably a little too much with a truck full of little kids. There are nice camp spots right outside Crown King, though, and Crown King itself has nice rental cabins.

Weather is perfect today and @JohnJB stopped by to talk cars and hang out. Did some light maintenance on the trucks - air filters and repairing some wiring. This is the first and probably only time these 2 will be parked next to each other so had to snap a pic. Pretty different but both get the job done nicely.

Just another Sunday, travel 1500 miles to talk trucks! Good seein' ya!!

If any of you in Denver want to do a liesurely drive with some good views at the top and some awesome and huge bolders and maybe through in a great hike, take the Dakan Rd drive (Funtreks book) to Rampart Range Rd next May or later after it opens. (It closes for the winter.) Nothing difficult. doesn't require an LC or even 4x4. Higher center is preferable. But it is a great little drive and one I like to do when I just want to get away for 2-3 hours. The hike is the climb up Devil's Head. Awesome. But, again, the gate is closed for the winter so you would have a quarter to half mile additional distance to get out to the parking area.

Here are some iPhone pics from my brief afternoon drive on Nov 30th - they closed it for the winter the next day.

Numerous people have suggested the Mogollon Rim it looks awesome. Thanks so much for all the suggestions. 1 more question I have is would any of these (or others) fit the bill for winter camping? We probably won’t make it out til late January or early February so I want some Place that’s not too cold and doesn’t have snow. Let me know if any of thes would be best. Thanks

I will admit that I don't camp in the valley. The couple of times I've been out have been in the RV campgrounds of state parks. Not exactly an idyllic setting when surrounded by RVs and portable generators. I do hike quite a bit, though, and I think the Lost Dutchman Park in the Superstitions has some nice tent camping. Also, I've heard that Mt. Lemmon in Tucson has some nice camping at lower elevations.

ETA:

There are also spots along 260 below the rim. They aren't exactly mild, but they are warmer than up on the rim this time of year. I'll bet the folks in the IH8MUD Copper State Cruisers clubhouse forum would have some great ideas.

Looks like someone made a trip to Colorado! Nice.

Also liking the looks of Slee's new upgraded digs. Many of us on this forum have probably helped fund their expansion! ;-)

Could you tell me what size tires you're running and is that is stock suspension? I'm looking to buy a used 2016 in the next few months and not looking to do many mods/upgrades at first. Do want to add a better tire; thinking about 285/65 KO2s and wondering if that would work with stock suspension. Thanks.

Play date at Tahuya ORV w/some friends from GXOR! The last time I was here with @kreiten, @mattv94, and @Ali M on 20" rubberband tires. Having a lot more sidewall made it a little more enjoyable this time :)

Ended up bridging maxtrax to hop off the steps after watching a buddy smack hard on his sliders:
