Yikes, Bubba! Looks like you're falling into a sink hole! Was that because of the weight of your truck, @Markuson? :frown:

Heh. Bubba drove up and out of that spot without any major fuss. That photo does look like a sink hole...but no sinking. It dipped down sharply on the right & we were just making sure we didn't end up leaning body panels into the right-side bank.

The dirt/sand in that area is almost like talcum powder & so traction wasn't great. The only casualty was...talcum-power-like sand thrown up and into my passenger side window. :)

Ah, the down side of wheeling with the windows open. At Overland Expo a couple of years ago (the one where it rained and even snowed the whole time) one of the Land Rover profession trainers took me out into the woods for some training on how to drive in the mud. Awesome training/experience BTW. But he had the passenger side window and the trim on my LR4 was light beige on the interior of the B-pillar. Yep. That mud never came out. :(

I think I was actually backing up slightly when this photo was taken. Moved the truck slightly right, then up and out.

Is that wrapped or dirty looks satin all over. Either way looks good

First, awesome trip to do and Moab in incredible in the winter with the snow on the red rock. But I hope you didn't really drive your 6,000# rig "across" Gemini Bridges. Heck, they don't even like people walking across it.

Ha, I did not, it's a big detour around the arch. Pretty cool to see it with snow.

I am hoping to get over to Moab area this winter. Gemini arches are pretty cool. At least for me, I was looking for an "arch" (meaning something above me) and all of a sudden there is this big hole in the rock. Gave me a moment of vertigo.

Got a bit of camping in between Christmas and New Years.View attachment 1602350

That looks awesome! How do you like your OzTent? We bought one in December but haven't had time (or rather, for my wife it hasn't been the season) to go try it out yet. Do you put it on top? We're planning on sleeping in the LC but using the tent with its awning and side panels to create protected living space should we need.

Also, very pretty area and a great picture. Would you mind sharing where it is?

It was great and there was hardly anyone around due to the snow I guess. We had most of the National Park's to ourselves, which I understand is rare. The only downside to that was that there weren't many people running the trails at Sand Flats Rec area; something we were looking forward to checking out.

Thanks Dan,

First off, its a great product. I've got quite a bit of time on that one in all sorts of conditions. Even had a dust-devil pick it up and relocate it for me once. Its an RV2 (and I have the side/front panels that I set up when staying more than one night). Its a bit small for 2 on ground pads but perfect for one on a cot. I expect I'll upgrade to the RV4 since the girlfriend is camping with me as much as her schedule allows and it would be nice to have a bit more room. Yes, it normally goes up on the rack, but I have loaded it inside the truck on a few occasions.

The location is the Trona Pinnacles, located outside the southern end of Death Valley, CA.
