200 Rear Mud Flap Delete & Custom Fab (1 Viewer)

I prefer to have mud flaps, but the rigid ones on the land cruiser are just asking to be ripped off and/or to take your bumper out. For example, if you drop down off a big rock, they often take a hard upward hit. I'm thinking about installing some flexible mud flaps from the soft urethane material used for rally cars. That'll bend much more easily and is less likely to case damage to my vehicle offroading while providing protection to whatever is behind me (camper/trailer/other driver, etc.).

Just did a full removal and trimming/reinstall of rears. Thanks to everyone for the good pics.

Do you really even need to trim/ reinstall the front guards? Doesn't seem to have a large hole like the rears

I removed my front flaps and did nothing. Still looking for options on the rears. I know there's a small business on the 100 series page that sells rubber mud flaps similar to bigger trucks. Wish there was an option like this for the 200 series.

I used a set of generic rear flaps and cut them to shape. Made a cardboard template to locate the holes and shape, and just transferred it to the flap material. Cuts with scissors, cost $12 or something like that.

Followed others lead and trimmed the stock mud flaps. I use a small cut off wheel on a air compressor and it turned pretty good

I love this hack and also hate it. I hate it because it's six years old, and there STILL isn't a pro kit you can buy for this. I mean, I get they didn't sell a ton of 200's, but COME ON... it is literally easier to find the odd random kit made for the three people who successfully imported Skyline GTs then it is to find kits for popular mods on the 200s. I mean, they sold them here. Not many people bought them, but what they sold, people bought. I'm not asking for deep cuts in terms of aftermarket support, but the really, really basic stuff would be nice.

It doesn't? A specialty Land Cruiser mods kit manufacturer doesn't make any products for the 200? Really? How shocking. That's shocking. I'm shocked.

I've taken to writing shaming emails to these mod outfits that all say more or less the same thing:

"I know the 200 series is still a brand-new model and not much is known about it yet because it was only just released 17 years ago, but at some point in the future, when you've had the chance to look one over, do you plan on producing some parts for it?"

Wondering if I'll be kicking up rocks and gravel and covering my bumper in rock chips if I do so.

No worries here... although I keep my car pretty clean.

I moved to a metal bumper, so don't have a good perspective to share.

It's a small volume vehicle with a limited addressable market. Many of these small shops are side gigs or one/two person operations. Small businesses fail all the time. What is really amazing is that as many do survive for as long as they do.
