The cab on my rig came from 22255, so also just a few digits off. Spent it's life in ID, then OR. Frame was hacked behind the cab by one of the PO's. What remains of the frame was last with ECO Offroad.

Thanks ecgruen, I have only had it for a few weeks. Still sorting through everything. I have the original t hub caps and a few boxes of spare parts. Everything works. Even got the original owners manual. Whiteys rig and the one I got both look to be in great shape. Looking forward to talking to whitey about his 45.

Whitey, let's see some more pictures of the great find.

Why are these damn things always behind the wheels when you remove them! Im sure we all have black widow stories! Been cleaning up the truck a bit. Some split rims, stock bumper and pto, have a headache rack and running boards for it. I came to the conclusion that i want to experience what these trucks are all about, loud, slow, and generally have to pay attention while navigating the road. The only upgrade i am going to do is front disc brakes and dual master cylinder. I have a 20 mile commute through a windy hilly road with cliffs!! I will have more updates next week, but she will be one color next time you see it! It runs and drives remarkably well for not touching anything. The oil filter had a 1999 date on it! It really just got moved around and driven to the store once in a while for the last 15 years. I think this was the key to the lack of rust. Most of these trucks sit and rot in one place for many years. The roof on this is the best i have ever seen and the floors are great too. The bed floor has surface rust but no rust through anywhere. Owner told me engine has never been out or rebuilt, just normal maintenance!

Looking good! Make sure to upright that bezel!

Its getting a stamped bezel! Ken, motivation for you? Im using the cherry running boards i got from you.

Hey Whitey
That's a great story and, as previous have said, good FJ KARMA.
Currently restoring 1966 FJ 45 VIN FJ45 22080 ( so a little earlier than yours. Also...Canadian vehicle)with the help of my mid 20's sons x 2 ( with intent of giving it to both??? Eventually..( and after I drive it Alaska to Argentina..this year....am gifting it to them in Ushuia, Argentina (Terra Del Fuego)....they have to drive it back to Canada!)...dont know how the sharing will work out).
Any way...loved reading the story. ( and if i did it correct, there will be two pre-body off resto pics)

Good, glad to see them go on a worthy truck! As far as motivation, absolutely! My distraction now is I am going to pick up a 427 Ford Med riser motor for 67 Mustang so I can give you a run for your money in that Camaro! :)

Been sanding and prepping the last few days. Nothing special, just 8 cans of rustoleum satin fossil(pretty close to the early dune biege) added a headache rack, running boards, bezel etc. still need to do all the window weatherstrip, but pretty pleased with the outcome. I dont want to worry about paint as this truck will get used for many different chores. I can grab a can and youch things up as needed!
