Who's done a 2 inch lift and any issues I need to know before hand? Like do I need to get shims for the ds angle? Possibly need to extend my brake lines. And any mods needed for the drive shafts themselves? I already replaced the rear with ccot 2.5 hfs grease able shackles because my rear springs sag and oem height grease able shackles up front. All spring pins replaced with grease able ones and bushings replaced also. Doing the ironman lift. Just replacing my stock suspension with something new. And adding 33's for the rubber overdrive. Maybe this is a basic question, but I want to get into this with all my ducks in a row. Thanks 7/70 fj40 btw

You should be fine as long as you're using stock-length shackles.

Fronts stock height 2 3/4 inches pin to pin

Rears are the 2.5 lift shackle around 4 inches pin to pin.

You should probably use the same size shackles in the front and rear if you are replacing all four springs.

Start soaking your "U" bolts now with PB Blaster or some other penetrating fluid. I have given up on thinking I can re-use the U-bolts. It is faster to cut them off and install new ones.

You shocks may be you limiting factor of your suspension. I do not know how the Ironman spring flex but you may want to consider some longer shocks in the future if you plan on flexing you suspension out.

Do not plan on reusing you spring eye bushings. Replace them all while you have them out.

I have seen Mudders very carefully take thier rig apart thinking they are going to re-use a majority of the old stuff. It can lead to a 3 day install. If you have everything in place and all the right components on hand it could take as little as 5 man hours to do. That is if you grab a sawsall or cutting torch to remove the old stuff.

Nothing is worse than having your rig torn apart just to find the spring eye bolts are 1/2 cut in two and you do not have new ones to replace them.

Thanks for the advice, I am gonna start pb blaster treatments today. The setup has all I need minus the shackles and pins. I have already replaced those and found grease able shackles for the rear that are stock height. Yeah didn't want a big lift just something that can handle the taller tires. (Recommended by cruiser outfitters). And replace the sagging old stuff.

I did the 2.5 lift, brake lines were fine - had to drill the old ubolt plates at the last second because the new spring pin was slightly larger than the original. Good luck!

In a lab test with different penetrating oils PB Blaster took 214 lbs to break loose. Liquid Wrench 127 Lbs. Kano Kroil 106 Lbs. ATF and Acetone mixed 50/50 took 53 Lbs to break loose. You be the judge.

Well that might have saved me some serious time had I known that!!

Heat and big ass hammer were some of my most effective tools.

Good luck!

Damn man, that's awesome info. I'll be headed to oreily's and the hardware store tomorrow. Thanks for the input. And I'll post some pics when this is finished.
