2 gauge jumper cables $2.75

Received notification of price correction for my order this morning. Order won't ship unless I agree to new price. It was worth a shot. And yes, I had a set for NLXTACY!

Interesting, and not surprising. I've been waiting for that e-mail.

Anyone going to put up a fuss and try for the 99% discount?

I wonder where the line between common sense and the customer always being right is drawn with Fastenal...

Even more interesting... I probably should have waited to spill the beans till I had a set in hand:doh:

Chris,

Thank you for your recent order on Fastenal.com, we appreciate your business. We have recently identified a significant pricing error on a part that you ordered: 0717154 800 Amp 2/0 Gauge Booster Cables. When your order was placed, our site mistakenly and incorrectly showed the cost to be $2.75 when it should have been $273.99. Due to this obvious error and pricing difference, we are unable to ship this product to you at the $2.75 price.

If you would like to purchase this item at the $273.99 price we will offer free freight due to the inconvenience that this has caused. Please let us know by April 10th, as we will be cancelling these orders on April 11th if we have not received any correspondence.

Thank you and we appreciate your understanding of this situation.

Sincerely,

Fastenal Company

wow... intercepted and returned, major intervention... (didn't even know one could do that...)
they figured out it was all your fault. You're on their black list now... :D

thanks for giving us a try at it, though....

amazing what the internet can do. A smart company would have a red flag system for unusually high activity I think.

Just hold out. The same thing happened with Travelocity. They offered discounts, coupons to fly at a discount, but in the end they stood behind their mistake. The millions they lost on that deal was more than made up by the advertisement they got out of it. Hopefully Fastenal will do the same thing. Worst case is they just cancel the order on the 11th as stated. Good luck!

chtucker: I'd guess that they normally sell a couple of these in a week, then overnight they get 50 orders, someone is going to notice it and check to see if it is a scam, a mistake, etc.

Based on the other site that I posted this, it was more like 300-400 sets. Largest order was 21 sets.

I am friends with a lot of people that run snow plowing fleets. They were buying one for every truck.

Doh! Should have kept a secret.

Just my luck.

With there being a Fastenal local to me would calling weights and measures help out with this?

I would think that our "Order Confirmations" are legal documents. Any lawyers in the house?

How is this any different than in a brick and mortar business? I just bought a Samsung 46" LCD that was incorrectly marked down to $799 but at check out rang up at $989. Since the tag said $799 I got it at that price. And like the manager said when he did the price adjustment, the first person always gets the deal. In this case there were lots of "first persons" that should get the deal. On the flip side I can understand they wouldn't want to honor the price. But really free shipping is a pittance. They should offer a significant discount (50%?) on the item as well.
