What radiator are you using? Hard to tell from the pictures but is it the factory LN106 radiator?

Yeah, the amount of threads on Aussie LN106 facebook pages tells a different story. I'll take a factory turbo motor any day over aftermarket parts can be sourced anywhere and less problematic. Thats my take anyway :)
I'm sure there's always a story. I wonder what turbos, boost settings and EGT's these guys accepted as "fine"

Yes std LN106 with enlarged inlet and outlets to match 1KZ pipe size. The shroud was fabbed to suit though.

Bolt that sh!t on is probably 1/2 the issue lol.

So good news went away with the boys on the weekend for a shakedown run and whilst my intention was to take it easy and 'see how she went', the usual late afternoon track offered an opportunity for a few of us to give it a go and I ended up full noise both lockers and nothing broke or fell off so I'm convinced its 'job done' after testing to that extent :) I did pass one car that was stuck bad, they had put out a call for help and had recovery coming so hope it all went well no pics of that section was too busy hanging on..... Anyway, all good :)

In Australia tho...

For a bit of BLING I added a chrome grille and tossed the keys to my youngest lad (18 and on probationary license) for a spin even he's amazed at the torque up the long hills :) Nearly 1,000 ks on the conversion now no issues to date. Done some long highway pulls at 110kph its about 7 lbs boost and 275 DegC exhaust temp in the dump pipe, 10.5 litres per 100.

Sourced a whole KZN185...Have to do a...sump / oil pick up swap to suit solid axle...
Also, do you have any more details on the mods to the oil pan and sump pickup for solid front axle?

There are tons of 1KZ-TE engines available on EBay in USA. But they are mostly out of old KZN185 Hilux Surfs (like yours). I wanna swap into an early (1979 to 1983) solid axle Hilux. Can you use a Toyota pan/pickup from an early Prado?

I used a KZN185 engine - should have used a KZN165. Had to swap on a KZN165 sump, oil pick up and dipstick fortunately my block was drilled to suit dipstick either side as KZN185 has it on the left as viewed from the front. Moved it to the right and sealed the old hole with the plug that WAS in the RHS :)
KZN165 sump clears solid axle perfectly...... Prado sump would probably be the same as 90 series platformed share with 185's I believe.

Great intel. Thank you!

The KZJ7X series Prados have a solid front axle and use their own sump and pickup. But I believe you are correct about the later-model Prados - they share the 185’s setup.

Picked up 2 more Hiluxes this week, wasn't planning to but when the deal is i n front of you... White diesel and red petty.
Scratches head not sure what to do with 'em yet :)
