Yeah pre-turbo my bad!I replied assuming you mean pre-turbo.
Lot of threads, but someone might say they run a max of 1600 F, but they might mean they don't mind hitting that for a few seconds. I think this is structured a little better. Trying to get more meaningful info for everyone to see. I've seen +1100 F on flat ground with a 300 lbs trailer cursing 70 mph, you can get high temps on flat ground if it's hot and windy out.Didn't check the link.
There's loads of discussion on this in the diesel tech section.
I tuned for 850⁰-900⁰C pre-turbo as a peak EGT. (I'll let you convert to fahreedomheits)
Reality was, I had to push really hard to hit that peak at all. You never would for 99% of normal driving conditions.
And, the only way you'd see those temps as suatained EGTs is if your were towing over a mountain pass, and don't understand sometime's you need to slow down, downshift to manage EGTs and not labour the engine.
Trying to make this more accessible, was going to post on a few different threads/forms, and not sure if the poll on here lets you create 3 questions.I shoot for 12-1400F after Turbo on my 1HD-T. (900C pre-turbo is 1650F so this seems OK)
Doesn't IH8MUD have a polling feature so yo don't have to give Google a cookie?
Also, EGT measured after the turbo is next useless.
DitoPost-Turbo EGT is a waste of time.
